Funny thing, the new banner is only a bit of temporary fun, due to come down tomorrow... now we can't or Dowman will be back!
This site has funded various official and unofficial CAFC ventures including the upbeats, various player shirts etc and so undoubtedly gets attention from within the club and journos etc.
People on the site are undoubtedly going to have different opinions but should the site itself "take a stance" on behalf of everyone on it?
Powell didn't have 100% support and the current banner is a piss take.
Well I guess SD is not seeing this now. But it seems to me that he must have chosen very carefully which threads to open and, indeed, only read certain comments in those threads. I guess he was worried all the time that if he didn't tow the party line then AFKA would threaten to have his kneecaps removed. This site seems to me to be healthily diverse and that's a good thing. I hope SD enjoys ITTV with its humour, intelligence and the wide range of topics covered.
I don't know why people are giving serious answers? The fact that he couldn't hold his tongue on the thank you thread said it all.
This is great news if true.
Or he'll just be back under one of his different log ins... After all he was the master of that on net Addicks. He seems to have lost his way a little.. His wind ups used to be funny. Now they are just a little bit bitter.

Never. Remove. The banner.
Also, does anyone else see an irony in the fact old abusive Steve is leaving the site based on the idea that people are making too much fuss about the manager leaving when they should just move on, and does it by posting a long leaving speech essentially asking us to care that he's leaving?
must admit I don't think that the new banner is a reflection on the majority of people on here, where as the cp banner was without a doubt a view held by majority
its a bit of banter so I don't care tbh, but I could see it being taken as bitter
I mainly post here ,but also sometimes go on Into The Valley.
I would never claim to be an expert on football formations, coaching / tactics etc and my enjoyment of watching Charlton has been enhanced by the many knowledgeable contributors on here . I also have to say that I do also find Reams on Into the Valley quite insightful on these matters and when discussing potential signings. For example he championed the potential signing of Matt Taylor before I had even heard of him.
For a club our size we should have enough room for both and respect each others viewpoints .I would like to see both Forums thrive. What I do not like are the personal attacks about each other which seem to go on. Both AFKA and Reams provide a free service for us and a platform for us all to comment on our mutual interest in the Addicks, not because they want to see world domination.
It reminds me of the Life of Brian scene about the Judean People's Front . I actually like to see different points of view because it has often changed my own perspective, I have even found some of Charlton Life's threads on political issues quite interesting until a lack of respect for opposing opinions takes over . At the end of the day it is a football club albiet a very special one not a political party or religious grouping.
I was a Powell supporter .He did embody to me many of the values I feel about Charlton.I was as upset as anyone when he left on Tuesday and was initially bemused by Riga's appointment. Like others I called him SCP. I enthusiastically stood up and clapped ,cheered and chanted his name Wednesday night. For me that is now the end of it . I even believe I would have accepted his fate if we had lost to Huddersfield and the Spanners.
Although I like Powell he will always be someone I hope has a positive career in the game. I support Charlton and now after the initial disappoint feel quite optimistic about our medium and long term future, although the next two months and a potential return to League One do concern me.
Have had enough of this the last few weeks really. This site has become a one trick pony, powell is CAFC, nothing else matters, ignore his record, we will score goals one day, superb tactical nous etc, we love him, he was hard done by.
we used to argue over things years ago, but now it is becoming polarised by cp love, even after he has left. it is dull now and this site is becoming increasingly marginalised, believe different if you want.
With the banner at the top of the page, it tells me the Dear Leader was more important than the site/fans/club and I cannot follow this mantra, or the bullshit that says we are a 'feeder club' any more. There are too many behind the scenes people on here, briefing against the owners/club for their own outcomes and they seem to be poisoning a significant number of posters against the club.
The sneering comments like 'wait until Powells LMA statement' tell me people are briefing behind and against and happy for the club to suffer.
This site is rapidly becoming a one trick pony, the Chris Powell love in. He has gone , let it go, was a great player, but a limited manager, how many of you really know what he was like, apart from a signed autograph now and then and a simpletons smile, do you really know he loved you? why couldn't he be arsed to come over to fans after sheff utd capitulation? he was scared of the fans reactions?
Do you really know what he is like? why were we blacklisted for loans by agents and clubs? apparently not because we would not pay, there is another reason. maybe we should put our efforts into finding out what that reason is, as it seems to have slipped under the radar.
So I cannot join in with that and cant be arsed with it anymore.
Danny, you are a lovely bloke, but you cannot run a site with your own agenda. I will not be back until the banner goes and there is some sign that balance is restored.
I know most of you will not miss me, but it will not be much fun without someone to argue with either and I miss the early days when the site was fun too, why do you think not many of the earlier posters are here now?. There are plenty who do not post on here anymore and plenty more that just read now, there are other sites.
This site has become politicised and is not for me anymore, cheerio.
So off to ITTV..............come and join me, or follow the current mantra on here.
Dowman don't go. You have been on this board since 2006. We need a balance of views. ITTV is not the answer.
Maybe I'm even dumber than my missus says, but it seems to me that there is almost always a good, genuine, heartfelt and passionate debate on here about all things Charlton. For every view, there is a counter view and that's fine. For sure, there is a majority of pro-CP sentiment here but much of it balanced with a recognition of his shortcomings. Many posters dish out stick and take it back too. Also fine.
I occasionally take a look at ITTV and have posted on there a couple of times. They tend to a more virulent anti-CP view but again there are often counter arguments and different views seem to be accepted over there too. A useful place to go for an alternative take on things.
Dowman, I can't see the point in "giving up" on CL. IWhy choose between sites - they are not for exclusive membership. f you don't like the present mood on here, say so, and say why. It will pass soon enough anyway.

Hope you change your mind.
I wouldn't like to see my enemies happy.

I dont want anyone coming in who doesn't know the Charlton way.
Bad times.

Nope only joking, I think you've made a good decision :-)

Just an attention seeker.
