So. How important are they in RDs experiment and CAFC's future?
Should we want the horrible older sibling to fail and implode so we get more of daddy's attention?
or would that mean the whole experiment is over and CAFC will be in trouble?
but that could mean being sold to a football man as a stand alone Charlton again.
Or do we want them to beat all before them on their way to champions league glory so the loanees and youngsters CAFC get are better, and better youngsters are attracted to the stable?
Or doesnt it matter one iota?

The theory I like best is that CAFC are the key to unlocking the treasure chest that is the PL's TV money at the lowest cost. We have a better stadium than half of the teams in PL, we can fill it when necessary (we nearly sell out whenever it's Football-for-a-fiver) and we have a big dormant fanbase that would come back if only they were guaranteed quality footie week in week out. We've also got a decent academy and generally don't attract trouble or controversy. Lets be honest, if we had the budgets of the likes of Leicester, we could have held onto the players we have had to let go over the past couple of years and made a real stab at promotion; last year was proof of that.
So it is in our best interests that SL do well - the better players they have, the better players we get loaned/given. And the better they do, the higher their value will become, making it more likely RD will sell and inject part of the proceeds into CAFC.
Roland will say in a weeks time that we are not a feeder club.
This is our club. Fk em.
The money from that is lots more than a brief CL appearance and winning the Belgian league.
He wants the club to break even. The only real way to do that is through players wages.
Like most things Charlton at the moment, its all rumours though.
Unfortunately we could completely lose our identity as a consequence.
I personally believe that RD knows he will have to pay £4m if we avoid releagation so he isn't too bothered about us getting relegated because I would guess he is very confident of being able to get us promoted straight away with SL's reserves, players whos wages he is paying anyway, a gamble which could pay off.
Once we get back into the champ I think it is logical that we could then see a push for the prem, and in a fair few years time, being his biggest team.
I think that he probably, as a businessman, views Charlton as his capture with the highest possible payoff yet...
If there's a way for it to be equally mutual for everyone then fine, no problem. But that's going to be difficult.
And i've heard that if we stay up next season we are aiming to win the Championship, with a goal in 2016/2017 to get a Europa League spot.
Get real. Look at our squad and look at the experience the people RD is getting in. We'd have more chance of not winning a game in the league all season than we would hitting a play off spot, this guy and his network know nothing of the league and anyone who does and goes against his army regime, is therefore, sacked.
perhaps the staff are being fed the same bullshit that CP was. My post above even says like most things CAFC its all rumours.
im firmly in the waiting and see camp, so I'm not writing off RD until then.
It must be remembered that the Belgium top league is considered quite weak in Europe and as such the winners of said league do NOT atomatically qualify for the champions league, but must like many other leagues in Europe go through qualification.
I don't think any money has been thrown at the club yet, because he hasn't had the man in charge that he wants. If we stay up and don't see any investment over then summer, then i will begin to worry.
You have a bbc interview with SL sporting director who says they will take cafc best young players to give them experiance abroad... Coupled with this is the acrimonious departure of a manager who was sacked for not being the yes man.
For me personally it's blatantly obvious that in Roland's network we are playing second fiddle.
As you stated earlier the only way his prioties would ever change is if we achieved promotion. Which is highly unlikely given the fact he's sending us SL reserves.
First thing is to stay up, and with a new man with fresh ideas it might happen. Then in the summer we'll see who goes/comes in, then ill make a further assessment. Until then, who knows. Cant say enough times how much I'm sitting on the fence with all this.
