i wonder when the Mr Angry who sits in front of me and screamed abuse at Powell every week will start on the new manager.

    My guess would be tonight.
  • Well results went our way last night and a win tonight, followed by a win on Saturday means we'll be above Millwall and still have some games in hand. Obviously that would be the best scenario, and I know our record against Millwall is shocking. However, I feel we as fans, whatever side of the fence you sit on re: RD and his recent actions, have been dragged through the mill hard this week. I think a slightly different team to the usual line up under Powell, but I'm backing us to get those wins because it would just sum up how crazy this last week....

    I want

    Hamer
    Nego
    Morrison
    Wood
    Wiggins

    Wilson
    Cousins
    AA
    Harriott

    Tudgay
    Reza

    I'll prob get

    Thuram
    Nego
    Morrison
    Dervite
    Wiggins

    Wilson
    Poyet
    AA
    Jackson
    Cousins

    Reza

Completely guessing coz know nothing about anything Charlton anymore....

    The adventure begins again
  • First of all, well done Henry for producing reponse after all the nonsense from people like me yesterday. I am quite certain that we will not see Thuram, Koch, at this stage. I am expecting Jose to use some old heads to guide him, he may not know the English leagues, but it is still a football match and it is hard to envy the position he is in at the moment. I will be happy to accept a draw, but more than that I want to see the right attitude from players and supporters.
  • 2 nil to the Addicks and the recovery begins.

  • If dodgy Thuram is on the team sheet instead of an in-form Hamer can we all assume that the development of Belgium fringe players is now more important to Charlton Athletic than winning English football matches?
  • If he starts with Thuram in goal, it will confirm everyones suspicions about Riga being a yes man. So, if this happens, I'd like to make a request to Glovepup to play this at HT..........................

I'm actually looking forward to tonight with interest

I'm the same and quite sure we will see more media than per normal. Belmarsh's finest could be running around a lot tonight as well.

  • One win and draw away from safety, with 3/4 extra games to get them in. Let the comeback begin tonight. Fresh ideas, more positive, attacking football, as it should be in a home game. COYR

  • Morning all, lots of doom and gloom on here right now and looking in from the outside it's fair to say the sacking of Chris Powell seems to have split your support down the middle.
How will tonight go? I've no idea, it will either galvanise your team or if we can sneak a goal in front it may well collapse like a Leeds United defence. Hopefully it will be the latter as far as I'm concerned.
Enjoy the game (if that's possible) and good luck for the rest of the season starting tomorrow
  • I am guessing that the new guy has been lined up for sometime now as it was probably always RD's intentions to bring his own man in and as a result I think he will know more about the players and team than we think.

Reports on him and his training techniques point to him being a methodical type of person so would guess he has done his homework (or you would hope he has?).

Can't expect to see his preferred way of playing in his first match in charge given that he would have only overseen 1 or 2 training sessions so I wouldn't try and judge him on his first few games. I am sure plenty will though!

2 - 0 Huddersfield and calls for Riga to be sacked with immediate effect!
  • Riga couldn't have wished for an easier game to start his reign - Udders have nothing to play for and a couple of key players out.
First time I can ever remember not really having a sense of anticipation about attending a Charlton game. Just a feeling of dread as to where our club is heading, now and in the future.
    1-1.

    1-1.

Plenty to play for, players nearing the end of contracts have points to prove to the manager....we want to finish above Leeds(never done that in my lifetime)...season cards have just gone on sale, more wins means more will buy for next season...oh and we owe you one for our FA Cup performance.
Yes we have a couple of players missing in Vaughan and Lynch but I would as a rule still fancy our chances of getting something from this game and on the back of a dreadful performance at Donny at the weekend the players owe our manager and supporters a good performance tonight but then again I'm sure you can say most of that about Charlton.

  • Totally and utterly deflated loss 0-3

Can't you gift us a win tonight? We let win in the league and Carling Cup earlier in the season, and who can forget the FA Cup third round tie last season which you won. A win for us tonight and we can call it all square.

  • Can someone take a photo of the Directors Box to see if RD is there to support his new manager?
  • We will see if RD is true to Katrien's words claiming he is not a "loser".

Fully expect relegation to preserve his £4m. Sorry, but that's the way I see it.

The players performance last Sunday was supposedly affected by CP's dismissal so I expect to see a repeat of much of the same particularly as most of them will suffer a similar fate at the end of the season.

Not much a promoter of motivation is our new owner. Perhaps he is used to his money doing all the talking?
  • I'm expecting...

    Hamer

    Nego Morrison Dervite Wiggins

    Cousins Poyet Jackson
    Green Astrit

    Reza
  • Has Dyer gone as well yet? Heard he took training on Tuesday

Have just signed up to the CAFC player free trial and setting my alarm for 2.45 to listen in. As much to the crowd as the game.

Have no idea what team is likely. There's not usually wholesale changes to teams overnight but we'll see. I can't believe he will be stupid enough to pick Thuram straight away, even from just an image point of view. May bring him in soon to make it look like he's in charge. Kind of game Charlton will do well in to build hopes up again then dash them again later.

But I'll go for 2-2 to continue my negative mood today.
  • If the speculation about CP’s resistance to interference in team selection, specifically concerning the French farce “goalie” Nohands Thuram-Oopsilen, has any basis in fact then we may see said fumbling eff-wit start tonight against Huddersfield. If he does then frankly all bets are off.
As for the rest of the team if they suddenly show glimpses of adequacy and more importantly start showing new levels of commitment to the cause then we will know them to be shameless despicable mercenaries unworthy of our respect. There’s no loyalty in football we know but a sudden upturn in effort and application will indicate they didn’t give a flying fornication for the former manager and are now just showing up in the hope of a new contract or to display their ‘talents’ to the next highest bidder.
(Chances of Peter Parcelshelf or Anil Koc starting have to be minimal as they both turned out for the U21s this week, Nego is another matter and might be worth a punt at right back as we haven't got another on who's decent and fit.)
The 2nd possibility and the one for which there is overwhelming evidence, is that most of them really ain’t up to second division football, so whoever the best 11 might be (which CP never came close to working out) doesn’t count for much anyway.
I’m not sure about the selection interference ‘issue’.
    Viz:
Roly Douchebag insists he wants the project to wash its face.
3rd division football for Charlton has thus far been a bigger loss maker than 2nd division football, because of the fixed costs.
The french farce eff-wit has already cost us goals and will inevitably cost us points compared to Hamer (the obvious first choice)
Playing him in games he’s not equipped for won’t increase his value, it will just teach him an ever richer lexicon of south London profanity
Roly Douchebag has stated that he doesn’t know much about the game so employs people who do in the football jobs and will not be involved in the day to day running, just the business affairs.
Even if he is in fact a raving ego maniac he’s no idiot, you don’t get to make €750m if you are – would he then significantly increase the chances of bigger losses on the minimal chance of bumping up the negligible value of a 3rd choice fumbler
    The arithmetic simply doesn’t work
Indeed if Nohands has any integrity whatsoever he’ll declare himself to be unfit, homesick or suffering from a stress related illness to avoid selection. The best he’s gonna get is a bad back from repeatedly picking the ball out the back of the net and a collection of pithy epithets from the Covered End.
  • Think I'll go with my season ticket, (not paying a penny into RDs pockets).. will not be a pretty sight if he intends to play Thuram. I hope we win but CP not long beat Hudders 1-0, anything less than that at HOME in the league will not be a good start to Riga's reign (be surprised if it lasts longer than 12 months)
  • I really can't imagine what will happen. I'll go for a 3-0 loss.
  • After all chaos and upheaval of the past 48 hours, this has got a rather dull 1-1 written all over it
  • I fancy us to win the next three games. No idea why, just think we will and did before yesterdays car crash.
This absurd optimism may of course just be a kind of denial mechanism adopted by my inner self so that I am protected around sharpe objects.
Lose? Maybe I will just stay at home and rock gentle back and forth
  • Biggest positive tonight will be if the fans get totally behind the players. Hudds will be difficult enough without our boys getting booed and jeered by us.
The season really does start tonight.

  • From under 21's v QPR

When Parzyszek found space down the right, the Poland U21 international delivered an inch-perfect cross into the box for the diminutive Jack Munns to rise highest and head home the equaliser.
