Nice of jacko, hamer and Hughes to clap the fans

  • Yea best to congratulate the players that's had played twice as well as his then sculk off...was happy to head over to the fans and a pull up on the bar after beating Wednesday!
  • Today's performance was poor and Powell got it wrong but none of the players on the pitch or Powell wanted to today to go as it did. They all wanted to go through and it wasn't to be.

What amazed me about today was that only Jackson, Hamer and Hughes (who didn't even play) were the only players to come over and clap the fans.

It was also nice to see Powell take the time to shake every united players hand...and then barely glance at the fans as he sculler down the tunnel.

We have all spent a lot of time and money on today and the performance aside...that was a disgrace!

When they came over they got Booed aint surprised powell did not come over, He loves the club and knows today was terrible
..........there can be no excuse for failing to acknowledge his fans though. Very unlike him.
  • As much as I was upset how no gonads a lot of our players had today, after the final whistle pretty much all the players clapped the fans, they didn't come over in a big group

That's how I saw it, Threadkiller.

Was in the Upper Tier so didn't hear any booing , thank the lawd .

OK- not our finest hour but this was a team lacking in confidence ( as well as goals) playing a team FULL of it , at home and with a huge crowd behind them ( albeit pretty quiet until they scored)

Have to admire what young Cloughie has done with this squad of players with his passing game, movement off the ball at the forefront. A very good young manager IMHO who's moulded a losing team into a winning one playing the Beautiful Game the way it should be ?

As I stated on another thread, I'd gladly give up an expensive game at Wembley for avoidance of relegation. But I take on board & worry about the possibility of losing out on both....A huge job now to lift the players for Weds evening & beyond.

Met up with 2 CAFC minibuses of Club staff at Watford Gap on the way to the game and saw Katrien, who travelled on one, chatting to fans , wearing her Charlton scarf & looking very much an Addick. I don't believe she would have been too concerned when halftime arrived but was invariably hugely disappointed in the end result as were we all.

If we can't seem to attract a decent striker to SE7 , then , from the talk around me this afternoon, the gaffer has to try a different starting line up which means including AA at the very least. He badly needs to find a winning line up - that's stating the obvious- and quickly too. I'm trying hard to remain positive that we can avoid the drop but it gets more difficult with every( well, most) games I see.

Maybe the winning formula will be miraculously discovered while I'm away but much as I crave it, I wonder whether there is one....

  • Leave out, their were a few people booing it wasn't the whole end. Powell should of come over. It's not being precious it's just the right thing to do
  • If he can take the time to shake every united players hand he can take the time to acknowledge 5400 fans who have made a 12 o clock kick off in Sheffield, end of

Christ some of you lot are precious. So you didn't get clapped? Big deal. The players were absolutely dejected at the end. You can go on about how they have no bottle, they're gutless etc - but they are going to be hurting from this like we are.

The players are typically very good with our supporters, so lets not get ahead of ourselves and immediately assume that the world is ending or that they are terrible professionals just because you didn't get a clap off them after they were clearly devastated after a big game.

    Get over yourselves.

I know there's a like button, but I have to say, 'THIS'.
  • Let's be fair here. It's VERY unlike SCP to not respond to our fans. There must be a reason even if it's only that he was just too gutted.

The more I hear Kate the more I like her, but it does seem strange that you should be predicting how she feels at various stages of the game.

A big cup final on Wednesday and another on Saturday coming up.

Just got home - posting without reading too - cant be bothered to read them.
Did Powell tell his players that we weren't playing in red today? - coz thats all they did all afternoon - pass to red shirts.
Ironic cheering towards the end when they strung 3 passes together.
And yes, there was booing at the end, and yes, most supporters didnt reciprocate the muted clapping at the end - because how can you clap a totally shite performance like that ?!
200 squid and 2 days of my life that i will never recover from. I'm not doing it again.
Get ready for the mullering from Millwall (and Udd and Burnley and Barnsley and Yeovil - and everyone) - no excuses any more.

  • Today was terrible, I watched the game with aghast it was so bad, we need a total revamp of the coaching staff, Before you all start shouting your Powell loyalty please explain why Cousins was a right sided payer today and Tudgay and Church played 30 metres away from each other, no chance at all in holding the ball up. As much as I love Powell we are tactically clueless, Millwall must be relishing Saturday, the 3rd tier beckons.

Tom, were you at Bramall Lane? or did you watch on tv?
  • Can't have been there.
  • The end of the game was a mess with about twenty times more police and stewards corralling things on the pitch at the finish. Players clapped...a bit, and perhaps they could not look us in the eye. I clapped them, even though I didn't feel proud of them, more in a kind of sympathetic pity, it was a mess. credit to Andy Hughes who came over and clapped all of us despite everything, can't have been that pleasant an experience compared to sometimes, but he showed his face which was necessary.
  • I think they should pack in that huddle nonsense before the game. Church clearly wasen't fit, did his best but below par. Tudgay can't run anymore.

Don't understand how a solid performer like Adjarevic can't get in ahead of lightweights like Harriott.
Sorry, but CP must take the blame for that 'display'. Had a chance to reshuffle the pack at half-time & kick some butt after an abject 45, but did nothing.

We played for the draw so got our just desserts. Powell knew he'd had yet another extremely bad day at the office thus no point in acknowledging the support.
In view of their cup run the blades deserve their day in the sun. That game was apparently worth £2m. Duchatelet must be spitting leffe tonight.

There was plenty of booing on the left-hand side of the lower tier.
Players coming over would have just been depressing.
This 'They didn't want it' is just the biggest load of bollocks. It was a quarter final ffs.

yeah, and they really played like it was didn't they...

  • as said elsewhere, we went and played for the draw, failed, were embarrassed, so no reason to go to fans, feck em Not important to SCP obviously, he didn't have to shell out for going to the game, there is always another one for him, very poor after being so keen at Wendys to get to the fans.
  • I was sitting in the stand behind our dug out and the looks on some of the players faces at the end of the game were that they were really gutted . I know that doesn't excuse the performance but to say that was spineless is a bit over the top

If you want to see spineless, go watch them bottle it at Millwall next week. #shittheirpants

Embarrassed, Hurt, Ashamed of his teams effort. Felt he let us down..I can assure you that everything I said would be true.....
  • I think spineless is spot on. They melted on a biggish occasion as the always do and will do next week at millwall. People who melt like that have no spin.

As opposed to the many smallish occasions when we've also lost this season? Last week at Leicester was a no lose situation, and we were still terrible in all aspects

Yes I went up to Sheffield yesterday afternoon.
  • Think the main thing was the fact it never felt like we gave it a go. I really don't think playing for the replay was ever going to go down well.

That said it's quite a worry how we managed to choke again when we had a large away support!

I genuinely don't think we choked, any more than we've choked in any of our other defeats this season. Utd were better than us, more confident yes, but better on the ball, more movement, more ideas etc We looked clueless going forward, no movement, no plan
  • Think you're spot on there. They looked pretty impressive with their attacking moves. Nice and fluid and smelt blood after their first.

Please don't mention that 3 letter word. Surest way to bring on oblivion. There was no point in Powell coming over as we know he at least was gutted. Our last 17 opponents will be licking their lips at facing an FL1 outfit.
Powell rapidly exhausting his vast reserves of goodwill amongst the valley faithful.
Regardless of what occurs season end CP has squandered a glorious opportunity to make history.
I feel for him tonight but I would love to know what he said come half-time as it had very little impact on the game.

Not sure what you're getting at here, Kap .

Just my opinion that , like myself, she MAY have felt reasonably happy with our performance in the first half, but like myself again, would probably have felt very disappointed at the final whistle. Maybe as women we feel differently to men ? Interpret that the way you want, pal but FFS, don't make a meal out of a few innocent words.

And you don't have to remind me about the importance of the next 2 games...but it does seem strange that you shouldn't be looking at ALL the remaining games we have !
