Strange that, considering he's probably played more games on the right in his life than in the centre.
That is embarrassingly stupid comment ..
He's not playing well there simple as that doesn't matter how long he's played there!
JC always played RB at the academy then stepped up into defensive midfield role in last 2 years a position that suits him, I cannot ever remember him playing RW at academy, the sooner we get him back inside with Diego alongside the better, I think this partnership would develop well with a senior player behind and AA in front
The miss didn't help that's undeniable but if Chris can't see that it was team tactics and lack of passion that were to blame then he's got his head stuck somewhere. Don't much like the singling out of Harriot either.
if swinging on the crossbar after a massive win isnt passion, what the fuck is??? Shouting and screaming from the dugout and jumping up and down?! That does nothing. Ask any player at any level, all it does is tire out the manager, have is thoughts and judgement clouded and make him look like a massive clot in front of his bench and the opposition's.
No good swinging on the crossbar at Hillsboro then go on to lose at BL, did he come over to the fans after?

From where we sat at the other end it didn't look like a sitter but I can't bring myself to watch any of the recording of the game so maybe it was.
Definitely not a sitter, difficult for him to line himself up as the ball came to him it got stuck under his foot.
And if he'd scored it would have been against the run of play
Disappointed with CP's remarks, first time I can remember saying that. Something is going seriously wrong. I'm trying to reconcile this performance with the one at Hillsborough, and what CP said then, about the importance of going at them early and silencing their crowd. Why did we start today as if it was a World Cup qualifier in searing heat?
My mates were berating Harriott for the miss. I thought he was stretching and was unlucky. That said, my Gregs make milk bottles look thin so maybe they're right and I'm just blind.
The game changer was not wanting to win in the first place and bad tactics and dozy defending in the second place....
What tactics? - i couldnt decipher that we had any ! Unless giving the ball back to the opposition at the first opportunity and not putting pressure on the oppo was a tactic of course.
Cant blame Callum - thought he was our best player - thought he was the only player who WANTED it - remember the chase back in first half when Wilson slipped, and he came back and hacked the guy down?
Shite, shite, shite, hang your heads in shame players and staff, whilst us fans will always be there you others will move on, yup Harriot missed what else did you lot create, effing disgrace.

Almost sorry to say it , but....THIS ,THIS and THIS. ! Actually, no, i'm not sorry to say it.
The blades had a great game plan thanks to clough. We didn't have one thanks to Powell. They probably have just about better players so it was always going to turn out that way.
We need to have a clear out in the summer keeping only:
Hamer Wilson Solly Morro Wood Wiggins Cousins Poyet Ajderovic Jackson Harriott Reza

We don't have the forwards or the right midfield players to win matches. We are over-reliant on young players, who will not be consistent.
Exactly this. I fear the current personnel are not enough to get us out of our current predicament.

However, I think if Harriott had scored we may well have won the match, so I agree with him.
We didn't deserve to win, but we started with none of the January signings on the pitch, so inevitably a weaker team than we had before we sold Kermorgant and Stephens. That is the board's doing. No good banging on about it, they're gone, but Powell isn't responsible for it either.
I'd like him to have played AA but the bloke clearly isn't fit enough to last 90 minutes. We don't have the forwards or the right midfield players to win matches. We are over-reliant on young players, who will not be consistent.
The board has tried to get quality loan signings, but without them we will go down regardless of who the manager is. The board needs to do better, because the risks attached to going down remain enormous.
RD is not to blame for the mess Jimenez left behind, but he is firmly to blame for selling our most important player and even if no one can say he would have been the crucial difference he would certainly have given us more of a chance than we have currently.
Agreed. Always talks sense when sense is needed in a time like this.
If Harriott had scored, we'd have no doubt retreated and defended for the last half an hour, Dervite on for one of the strikers, Hughes on in place of Harriott...
Is it really so difficult to find a player who can gain possession around the centre circle, then drive forward with the ball? Every team we play against has a player that does this to us. We have nothing happening between defense and attack. Cousins was starting to do it alongside Stephens but is now totally wasted out wide. Can the management not see this deficiency? Every commentator can see it and I'm sure most fans can see it. All we do is knock it around at the back, then pump up a long ball. You don't need to be a well qualified coach to teach your team to bypass your midfield by hitting long balls.
Continuing to play Wilson at RB (where he has performed well in the few games I have seen) leaves us with no decent right sided midfielder. Play Nego or get a RB on loan and let Wilson play midfield, dropping one of Poyet, Cousins or Jackson a game at a time to help keep them fresh, and there's already a better balance.
That doesn't address the striker problem but with better service surely one of Church, Reza, Sordell, Polish Pete or Tudgay could come good. Or is that just wishful thinking?

I think that is pretty much how I see it.
FFS how hard can it be to get a steady right-back in? We are not looking for a Champions League player just someone to come in and do a job.
Also, as others have said, we need a target-man to at least give us that option.
I have to say that if Powell is unwilling to play the incoming players like Nego then he might as well resign now because this is obviously how its going to be.
I guess as things stand we will drift on until the end of the season and Powell's contract will end so RD can get rid with no compensation and bring in his own guy.

I agree that letting Yann and Stephens go was ludicrous but if AA is not fit to last the 90 minutes then start him and then bring him off when/if he tires rather than the other way round. Some of CP's decisions baffle me including why Reza isn't given more of a run for his money. Same ol' same ol' and we're going backwards. Powell isn't blameless and some of his decisions don't help his cause.

About right this, because this is exactly powells game plan.
He went two up top should have played green at least to cross the ball, into the box cousins and Harriet hardly crossed the ball all game drove me fucking nuts
Very often I view Airman's comments as a beacon of good sense on this forum but not this time.
What Powell is basically sayimg was that he was relying on one chance to win this game and the team was picked and set up to that end. If we were playing a Premier team that might wash but we were not. Sheffield United are a decent third tier team but a third tier team nevertheless. We might have lost Kermogant and Stephens but any Championship club should be able to compete properly with a team in the division below them and that didn't happen yesterday. In 90 minutes we didn't have a meaningful effort on target. One of the moans ealier in the season was thet we were playing hoofball to Kermogant, today we were doing much the same to Church! If Powell accepts that the new regime has stripped him of the vital assets needed to compete properly against a half decent third division team then he should resign.
Ok Stephens has gone but AA is a playmaker and as others have stated he could have started even if not 100 per cent fit. We began the game ineptly and carried on with Powell effectively hoping for just one chance to score. AA started at Wednesday and we bossed the game for the first 30 minutes which gave us a platform to win the game. Yesterday we allowed United to take the initiative right from the start and when they deservedly scored we collapsed. Their manager could bemoan his bad luck in not winning by three or four goals.
Within the first 25 mintes of the game yesterday everybody in my earshot was complaining about the tactics and general incompetence on show. Up to now I have always supported Powell for all he has given this club. However yesterday was so woeful, all the more so because of the occasion, I really wouldn't mind if he went. We are well used to losing games but to be that poor in such an important game was humiliating. There were five and a half thousand of us there yesterday but the display from the team was so woeful as to constitute a betrayal.

He's not stupid!

Thereafter the player's heads dropped, Sheff U players and supporters immediately came to life.
Lack of preparation to be able to deal with such a situation was the cause of the defeat, not the miss itself. Embarrassing.

Hamer
Wilson
Solly

Cousins
Poyet
Ajderovic
Jackson
Harriott
Reza
The rest in my eyes can do one.
1)Poyet was VERY deep in midfield, him and Jackson looked totally disconnected.
2)Cousins is never a wide RM - he looked totally out of position
3)Church up front - what are we trying to do with him? Is he a channel runner or is he supposed to be hanging on the shoulder of the last defender?
4) If we are going to stay up, we will need two or three high quality loans as that team last night looked very, very poor
That doesn't address the striker problem but with better service surely one of Church, Reza, Sordell, Polish Pete or Tudgay could come good. Or is that just wishful thinking?

If we have no width wide right the solution was there
Nego played right back at wigan and played well then move wilson wide right
Play Jordan in CM with Diego
Play harriot or jackson wide left
Play Reza up front with AA just behind him
Now if powell don't want to do that you have to ask why
Its either they are so shit he can't which from what I have seen and others who have been home and away don't agree with
Or powell is being stubborn and cutting his nose off to spite his face
He wasted the green for wilson sub
He wasted the poyet Reza sub
Powell his staff and players were responsible for getting us to this qtr final
Powell and his players and staff were gutless clueless and tactically inept yesterday
I have heard and read some amazing things yesterday and today
The most amazing being that the players played so abject because of the abject noise made by the fans
The blame lies at the mgrs door the captains door the rest of the players door
No one elses
