Well done to Charlton for "revising" the idea, presumably due to feedback here and via the phone calls to ST holders.
All organisations cock up, it is how they respond that marks out the good ones.
However the upshot is that the driver for this change was to generate more income from an underused asset (I'm not using the S word).
But having "revised" the rules what is left is anyone can use the lounge (just like before) but it now costs, according to CAFCkev £230 pa when it was £100 pa.
So how will that encourage more uptake. A free programme and a free drink is fine but that costs the club more money.
We shall see if the same or a similar ideas are tried next season.
The learning point is that the Club need a proper consultation process with full costings. They could call it Target 40,000.
And if fans don't support their fellow fans, when they are being shafted, then you may well be next, when another ill thought through scheme appears.
In fact, rather than me being next, I suffered on the last occasion. Once the upper tier of the West Stand was finished, I was kicked out of my prime lower west stand seat in order to accommodate fans who wanted to pay more for a "hospitality package". This I should add was supposed to be a best available seat (save the Directors' Box) as part of the 10-year VIP scheme. Where was your support for me? Because having lengthy communications with Peter Varney did bugger all for my cause.
Frankly, if (and in my opinion it's a big if as a good number of current users won't migrate to the North Upper) the club can get more money out of the better use of some of a few rows of seats by selling them as part of a hospitality package, then that's, on the whole a good thing isn't it? It's not as if you're being asked to become part of Russia or something.
(As it turns out, I quite like my replacement seat, I don't get wet when it rains, unlike in the lower tier of the west stand.)
Like first season in prem when South Standers had to miss the opening 5-0 victory as the loadsamoney easties took our seats as their stand was not ready in time.

Eh, what? It was the upper tier of the west stand that wasn't ready for the Southampton game and as far as I can remember now that was always going to be the case.
I am not currently a season ticket holder as I have been away at uni for the last 3 years. I do want to buy one for 2014/15 though and would probably look to sit in the first six rows of the upper north.
Can I not get a season ticket there now without paying the extra for the crossbar package?

Admin you may close this thread, as it worked a bit quicker than expected.
I'll have to take the petrol back out the car :-)
Seriously though, I cannot believe they are thinking of kicking people out of their seats.
