At our recent home game with Brum I noticed there were far too many police on show.
I said to one in Floyd Road: "mate, there are too many coppers here for a game like this"
He replied: "I know, fella, but we are all in good spirits and it's going to be a good game"
This is the key thing about high profile policing: blending-in and becoming part of the occasion and scenery. It took years of Notting Hill Carnival riots before the Met learnt this, and other forces need to catch-on and behave the same way.
If we score and run on the pitch, they do nothing.
If you score and a fan even steps on the ground in front of your seats and gets within 8 foot of the pitch they'll be thrown out. Fine for home fans and usually away fans but be careful if you score.

Since the police in the US kill an average of 400 people per year, and Florida is one of the most violent states, I find that somewhat difficult to believe. Of course, it was probably for the best that you didn't challenge him on his statistics - he'd probably have shot you...
I think he's referring to Hillsborough .
I knew that. Basic maths tells you that the cop was talking bollocks.

Sorry you guys got into a bit of a tizzy over my post. Particularly as I got in wrong! The cop was comparing the history of Orlando PD with SYP not the whole of Florida! Must put brain in gear before starting to post!
