  • A lot of 6 pointers yet to be played among the relegation strugglers.

    Fasten safety belts .........

  • I think, that if we beat Wall, then almost certain survival for us.
  • It's a long, long road with many a winding turn.
That leads us to who-knows-where, who-knows-when.
  • I think, that if we beat Wall, then almost certain survival for us.

TP you have Millwall to beat us so you think we will go down. Got that one wrong thankfully we will beat them and stay up otherwise a good thread

Nah, got them down to beat us as usual, but still be above them at end of season, however, if we can beat them, then we will almost certainly escape with a bit of room to spare.
  • Watching the Wall penalty today, Brighton centre forward outpaced Shittu and got brought down - maybe Churchy can do the same - i expect that without Yann we wont play down Shittus throat like we did on past couple of performances.
Anyone see the Yeovil first sending-off today ? How the hell can anyone be sent off for something like that?
  • I'd say Barnsley have the "hardest"

You play a few teams at the end with nothing to play for or around you.

Last season, the championship teams were all pretty competitive. This season, there are much weaker teams.

Presidents predictions are not overly optimistic either. Good thread though. Cheers me up a little after the defeat today. I hope they are correct. Charlton staying in the championships will be a major achievement.

Interestingly, The Bookies sorta concur with my thoughts...

  • Bookies now have Millwall odds on for 3rd relegation spot..

  • In terms of points needed to finish 4th bottom, I think you are very close.
I'd say confidently that 45pts will be fine.
  • It is an impossibilty, and I see you have tried hard to be fair - possibly being a tad harsh in relation to our points - which is probably the way to go. I think we have a decent run in and 20 points from that lot shouldn't be out of the question. It is clear that our games against Millwall, Barnsley, Yeovil and Blackpool are going to be key.

  • Before we play on Wednesday Millwall and Doncaster will have played 5 games more than us. Let's hope they all fail to get points

  • There are always a couple of teams which unexpectedly either perform or have bad runs.
The trick is to try and guess which of them will do just that.
According to my predictions, this is how it could finish:

    Top 8: Leicester 92 Bottom 8 Blackpool 51
    QPR 89 Millwall 51
    Burnley 82 Charlton 50
    Forest 81 Bournem'th 48
    Derby 78 Birmingham 45
    Leeds 73 Doncaster 45
    Ipswich 72 Yeovil 37
    Wigan 71 Barnsley 34

QPR 2nd on 89 points ? I need look no further.

Even Harry Redknapp doesn't think that.
  • Interesting stuff , I normally do the BBC Predictor around or just after this point.

I have thought for some time that Barnsley and Yeovil are probably doomed and agree we need 6 points from their visits to the Valley. Huddersfield next week and Watford are also must wins .Similar to the QPR game I could see the pitch being a leveller against Burnley,so maybe an unexpected bonus point (or 3).

I would love to visit the Toolbox next week ahead of Millwall in the table with 3 games in hand, that might make the dynamics of our South London derby very different. If they lose to Derby County and Blackpool and we took the lead then I could see Holloway's honeymoon coming to an abrupt end and their lovely cheeky supporters would get on their own teams back.

My only fear is do we have the strength in depth for this marathon . I suspect players who are on the fringes like Evina,Gower,Green,Hollands and Pritchard who I'm not sure are really good at this level may feature at some stage unless we get reinforcements.
  • Blackpool Millwall next Tuesday, taking emotion out of it, we really don't want either to win!
  • a draw then - If Millwall lose at Derby tomorrow and draw with Blackpool - they will be 2 points ahead having played 5 more games than us!

And if we beat Huddersfield the following night we would go one point above them and four games in hand when pitching up at the Toolbox.

  • Saturday is going to be almost as interesting as if we were playing - and if we get some positive results it could fill us with confidence for our upcoming games. If all of our rivals win - it might deflate us a bit! I don't think they will though!
  • We're already 1 point up on initial predictions

Leeds and Forest at the bottom of the last 6 championship form table. Derby mid table.

    Next games: Burnley h
    Forest a
    Derby a
    Leeds a
    Reading h
    Yeovil h
  • I don't think we'll beat Barnsley and Yeovil so that makes a massive difference, with those games being six pointers, and all.
  • I don't think we'll beat Barnsley and Yeovil so that makes a massive difference, with those games being six pointers, and all.

I think that Charlton may surprise and pick up a few more points than expected against the teams further up the table, as they will come out and play as opposed to shutting up shop and not conceeding like Barsnsley for eg. I can see that game being a low scoring draw.

  • Yes,agree that we may get more points than we thought.
  • New predictions based on points earned...
    Charlton 45 points
    Blackpool 45
    Yeovil 43
    Millwall 43
    Donny 41
    Barnsley 38
  • Can't believe you haven't included Brum, I reckon they're doomed
