I'm no big fan of El Kak, but the notion of changing a winning team is just completely bizarre - and particularly for a fella that has only played one game for us so far and therefore is unlikely to be completely up to speed (no matter how good he may be.)
I actually think El Kak has played reasonably well these last few games - since the debacle at Watford anyway. It's probably only a matter of time before his next big calamitous mistake, but I still wouldnt' change the team just now. Madness!
His decision making is shocking and thankfully Diawara has got him out of the shit in recent games, the one Diawara didn't save him in was Watford, where the mistakes were punished, the battle at the bottom is going to be down to how makes the least mistakes, and El Kak is a mistake waiting to happen
As I said, I'm no fan - but it still doesn't make any sense.
Diawarra is positionally naive, but nobody seems to be suggesting that he should be dropped. How long before he goes walkabout again like he did at Spurs?
Not helped by having someone next to him who goes walkies either, Carson screaming abuse at El K summed it up. We don't have a commanding Centre half, something that's been a problem for a while, Pards saw that and went for Priestly, then Bougey.
I'll be tempted to shift HH inside and Thatcher back in at left back as well, positive changes which improve the side
As much as I am still on the fence about Elk I do find the mass calling for Bougherra to replace him a little premature.
I mean, Bougherra is clearly an exciting prospect but his entire Premiership experience stretches to one game at Man United so there are no guarantees that he would do that much of a better job than the Elk anyway.
I think the ELk has played a lot better since Pards came in and seems a lot less nervy and I really can't see Pards changing the centre-halves unless we get a trolleying somewhere.
We are winning the battle at the bottom - Has anyone noticed that we are in the top 6 or seven teams on form?!
El K's free kick made the penalty and his distribution is pretty accurate and the back 5 is solid whether it's Thatcher or Hreidersson so I would leave well enough alone. the big difference on the pitch - and on the charlton boards is that no-one is talking about Kish and Hughes because we have Song and Holland playing in the middle.
Both El K and Diawara can actually play a bit which helps link up to the midfield and wings. We didn't play so well and got away with it so maybe Pardew will change it around - perhaps 4-5-1 to sneak a 1-0 at Citeh - but I can't see him messing about with the defence.
