Generally, and genuinely, positive about the takeover.
Pros
1. a resumption of communication. Not as much as we would ideally like but, I think, way more than most clubs do/fans get 2. a reasonably understandable strategy focusing on youth, younger players that will add value and not destroy it 3. Swift and reassuring action on the pitch 4. Like it or not (and i HATED the Yann outcome) a firm line on contract renewal policy. Although I am pro CP, I also understand and respect the apparent "wait and see" approach 5. Indications that money will be spent IF there is perceived value in the deal
Cons 1. Insufficient urgency in bringing players in early in January to boost the team/squad. Every game is vital. 2. Concerns about player selection policy - is CP being forced to take AND play players 3. Concerns that RD may be making transfer decisions (i.e. Alnwick) without Cps involvement or agreement 4. Concerns about the club network and how this will impact on us going forward
Interesting to note that all the pros have some kind of evidence base whereas most of the cons are concerns based on our interpretation of events.
Activity (spend, players in, selection policy) in the loan window will tell us much more, I think.
I hate to doom-monger but it really is far too early to comment. People seem to believe that because RD is a renowned businessmen and has turned Liege around he will definitely improve the position of the team. With regards to the former, a huge number of owners (who by definition are wealthy people) have failed to turn clubs around AND the Liege example isn't enough to hang on to quite yet. We must not forget that achieving success in the Belgian leagues (a much lower standard than England) does not instantly mean he will achieve success here.
Relegation will be a disaster in my book- once agin, it is all very well RD saying he wants to improve the matchday experience but this will prove much tougher to achieve when there is less interest from sponsors etc.
I also find the faith in the new players a little bit naive- these guys have no experience of playing at a standard like the Championship and we are expecting them to come in and make a positive difference...
I would absolutely love to be proven wrong but all way know is that the club is financially a lot more stable than it was which is great and the rest is all theory.
How can I be happy when my team is in the relegation places ?
I like the look of Reza and the new Polish lad as strikers. It could be a good combination. I am not happy that the best midfielder, Stephens was sold and not replaced. Maybe this will be addressed in the emergency loan window but if it isn't you got to conclude that RD is happy not to pay 4 million to TJ / MS or the interest on Richard Murray's money. I am not happy about that or the manager / coach, if that happens won't be given a proper chance to keep the team up. I would like to see the strikers get decent service so that they can knock some goals in.
Potentially, Charlton may be in a good position to benefit from clubs not managing the FFP position well. Thats the future and it is impossible to tell what happens before then or how the FFP will play or whether football clubs will be able to squeeze out of it or come up with an accounting fix.
The long term future is bright. But in the short term, it is worrying. If we get relegated this year it is not a given that we will automatically get promoted in the first year. It is essential to do everything to retain our Championship status. We left ourselves short of what I would have liked in the transfer window. To give us the best chance of staying up I think a couple of good midfielders are needed, if we get them it gives us a fighting chance.
In the long term I think that we will be run in a prudent business like way. I am pleased that the owner is going to do everything to make the Academy the fulcrum of future plans. I feel going forward that we should be striving for category 1 status. I would also like the building at the training ground to be given a face lift as it is looking a bit tired at the moment.
We have had enough doom and gloom threads on here the past week just wondering if anyone's happy with what Roland is doing , I for one am actually quite happy and excited to see where he's gonna take this football club
for instance signing a player benfica and west ham were looking at and that player scoring 16 goals in 20 games this season, Along with signing players up on long contracts I.e wiggins.
Anyone else excited to see where he's gonna take us ? And hopefully not league 1 .

So Yann. You joined the same time as RD.
What do you think of that great signing now ?
Astrit was good though mate lol , I still think reza will come good and I genuinely can't work out why Piotr a player that benfica wanted ect ect with all he's goals hasn't done it for us.

If you post strong, possibly controversial opinions on a forum, in good faith, then presumably you hope people remember them. If they do remember them, they might well come back and hold you to account. @HenryIrving did it to me a few weeks ago. I was mildly appalled that he had to go back three bloody years, but I absolutely respect his interest in doing so.
Personally I am more bothered by posters who post strong views and then reappear under another name.

Strong views lol , What by saying back the club ect the chairman has done a lot right so far and just needs to get he's transfers right in the summer and it's all good , yes very strong views .

Covered End was simply asking you whether you are still as confident now that signing Polish Pete at the time we did, while letting YK go, was as smart and 'exciting' as you claimed at the time. Well?

That wasn't the only thing he brought up that's the problem , Anyway I wasn't the only one optimistic about Piotr and he's record speaks for it self I genuinely can't work out why it hasn't worked .

So not happy with the goings on at the club.
I can see 3blokes (Jon) nicking this and calling it his song.

NB Astrit was good if it was 5 a side & the game lasted 30 mins.
Reza, I grant you may come good.
