RD have maybe a buyer for standard - someone of arabic world - just rumor but was on a site of the rtbf television

Thanks for the intel. These guys have seen the same story as you. 60million euros is the rumoured amount. Do you think that is a fair price? The fan comment at the bottom of the page is not exactly thrilled by the possibility of a Middle Eastern takeover.

By the way, RSL seem to have suffered a dip in form recently, with 4 defeats in the last 5 and Thuram-Ulien, the goalie who spent time at CAFC last season, has let in 10 goals in that time. It looks like the recovery under Vukomanovic has stalled for the time being.

    Normal service resumed for Thuram.
  • We know a song about that we could lend you..
  • Promotion does not ensure a clubs finances, very few prem clubs make money or break even. Due to player costs most lose vast sums of money, just look at the teams that have been relegated.

If RD does sell RSL then that will obviously end the ready made transfer supply of players, loan or permanent which some would applaud but like it or not they contributed to our escape from relegation last season and are playing a part in the current one.

Simplistically it could be argued financially RD would be £48m better off so wouldn't need to shuffle his payer assets on the cheap and be able to push the boat out on transfers, not sure that's RD's style though. Bumpy ride indeed Henners!
  • ffp has changed, meaning he could invest more, perhaps the value of a network lessens in that circumstance
  • It would certainly explain selling their best players and not really replacing them. Similar to Slater and Jimenez here. RD wants out so he can pump some more cash into his favourite club. Just make sure you sign up Buyens on a permanent deal first Roland!

  • Lots of possibilities both positive and negative.

When it is on the SL site official.

No doubt Candide will be along soon to tell us "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds" and this is all part of the strategy : - )

    Deep but very good. :-)
  • FFP has indeed changed such that only the likes of QPR would fail, and possibly Leicester. Let's see how that affects spending and prices in the window. If prices go up then Watford and ourselves maintain an advantage since we can source some players from the network which is simpler and cheaper.

I won't comment on Liege except to say M.Duchatelet might prefer life in the Jupiler league with St Truiden where expectations will be a tad lower. He suggested merging the Jupiler with the Eredivisie in the Netherlands to enhance the competition but that didn't happen so what else can he do except either sell Liege or have another go at winning the league and qualifying for the champions league. And that might be expensive?

To me the challenge at Charlton appears so much simpler. Break even is just a random number but running a plan to a budget and adding value to the enterprise over time is the challenge.

Three of the top six at present are clubs similar to us or smaller. The difference is that they've been building for longer. Another 12 months at CAFC and we will be in very good shape. Perhaps good enough to beat Liege?!

Not sure we would miss Bulot as he hasn't played much but we've seen what happens when Buyens is out. So it's a pain if he goes.

  • Pretty sure Buyens is on a year long loan and cannot be recalled in January?

I think both Bulot and Buyens could be called back by Standard during the window .

What would our feelings be if for example if RD lost Buyens but then brought Coquelin as a replacement with his new found money ? Bulot is going to the African Cup of Nations so it that context would Standard want to recall him?

A worrying aspect would be that Standard have changed managers since the loans were made and the new man might want to consider all of his available options.

  • Lost 4-1 at home tonight

If Standard are bought by an Arab consortium I would think that they will setting their sights higher than Bulot and Buyens.
  • Bulot has hardly played for us so wouldn't be a huge loss.
  • He should sell us all his good players for £0 before he sells
  • Nick Buyens, Ajdarevic and bulot then sell the club

Maybe Bulot on a loan with no recall clause, I'm not convinced yet.

    Why Ajdarevic?

He has hardly played for Standard since returning. He's a talented turkey.

    Better than Harriott

Well that could go right off thread; but I think the reason Ajdarevic was dumped on us, and why he isn't in the Standard team, is that he is unable to achieve a level of fitness that allows him to do what he is paid to do; play for 90 minutes. For that reason, I would say, avoid at all costs.
