Why - if you can somehow watch the game on TV being in the stadium is not essential - I always think watching a game I have been at later on TV often gives me a clearer perspective.
Glad you are bothered enough to comment American Addick - Keep em coming!
With another millionnaire (multi) who lets Chris Powell get on with managing and possibly allowing hm to choose some players for himself. Maybe even some players with experience of English football.
The problem though is Powells tactics are dreadful. The two subs he did in the Wigan game directly caused the loss.
Were you at the game, American Addick? Or are you making that judgement from 3000+ miles away? If the latter is the case, it's hard to take your opinion seriously
But AA may not take yours seriously either which of course you are both entitled to.

We all see things differently I suppose. I thought that Thuram was at fault for both Wigan's goals and he wouldn't have been playing if Alnwick had not been sold by the owner.
How do we know Alnwick would of saved the other chances thuram stopped who knows could of been more ?
I suppose the bottom line is that I was worried about immediate administration and the club folding, Roland taking over seems to have put that worry on the back burner. If we got relegated, I would still go, so relegation has less fears, much less, than not existing at all. Were we to be relegated it would reduce the cost to Roland by 4mil reportedly (might be soaked up by reduced ticket sales mind), but it would help with the overall running costs. The fact that Roland has the 4mil clause says to me that he has entertained the real possibility we may go down, he probably would like us to stay up, but is says to me that even if relegated he would back the club in league one.
I wish people would stop with this idea that administration solves the problems, hasn't done for Leeds, hasn't done for Portsmouth, or many other clubs. You also end up fucking over a load of smaller firm in the local area, how many of have taken the piss over Palace shafting the St Johns Ambulance?
Of course - Any half decent businessman buying a struggling indebited Club at the bottom of a League would consider what were to happen if the Club was relegated. No doubt the asking price would have been higher if we were top of the League and I am sure any buyer would either want a reduction or, if the sellers were being stubborn about that, some recognition of the risk.
I just don't buy that an apparently shrewd businessman would buy a Club with half an eye to letting it be relegated. I think that lots of conclusions are being jumped to that are, at best very premature and unjust. I think we need to take a longer view of this man and his abilities and intentions. Again Liege are top of the League with cheaper tickets and sellout games - not an accident.
Personally I think CP can work with RD and actually if you wanted a manager to develop young talent who better? I just wish the CP contract thing was sorted . The uncertainty is probably the worst thing happening at the moment.

That is the downside. Administration is a purely selfish perspective to have the club have a better position with the unknown chance of pick up by a decent owner. Southampton owners did it and Palace did it. In reality, I would hate anyone to invest in Charlton and lose their money and for businesses, big and small not to be paid.
Roland Duchalet has prevented that. Only if TJ / MS had sold earlier for a more reasonable price then Charlton would not have been in that position and got a more straight forward owner. Its all water under the bridge now in any case and not helpful speculation - as long as I don't have to read that TJ was a saviour and we didn't properly appreciate his generosity and mercurial honest and straight forward business skills .
Charlton are where we are. We have to get on with it.
In answer to the original question, I'd say exactly where we are now - fucked.
What we did last week was on a par with letting Flanagan and Powell go to America in the run-in in 1978, except we had a few more points in the bag at the time.
We might be worse off financially but that's the only negative. With Duchatelet in charge we don't even have a proper football club. There will be no direction of one cohesive club but instead a management of monies between clubs. It's rather like having five bank accounts in one family with total fluidity between them. You might sell your car but the money ends up in your wife's account or vice versa. It's total bollocks and eventually all Charlton supporters will get totally fed up with it.
It was said that he paid 16m for us but only 12m paid upfront the rest dependant on us staying up so if we are relegated he doesn't gave to pay the final 4m. This was posted elsewhere, by AB I think although if it wasn't I apologise.

Taking Alnwick out of the equation I can't see what he has done wrong so far. We have brought in a RB and two strikers who are all young and have joined on long term contracts. We have loaned in a LM and a keeper who on paper is better than those we already had. Wiggins had signed a long term deal. He had agreed to spend upwards of 600k sorting the pitch out. Yann has gone but we offered him a two year deal on terms that the Club felt were appropriate considering his age and injury record which he choose not to accept. In the bargain we got a fee that allowed us to sign a promising youngster for a fee. Stephens went and that had been on the cards and once again we got a fee for a soon to be out of contract player. We may still go down but the squad had had a shake up and we were not exactly doing well with the old lot. Ok he hadn't given CP a new contract yet but why would he until he is satisfied of his ability.
It looks to me that he is looking for value for money. Bring in young hungry players, promote our own academy boys, a sprinkling of loans and in so found reducing the wage bill and naming us more financially viable.
I'm not sure it will work but I'm more of the opinion it will rather than the doom mongering being promoted by others on here.
RD :Oi, Mr Powell, we seem to be struggling in this division and our players are not good enough, we ought to bring in some decent ones and wrap up the contracts of our good players on the fringe of leaving. It's January and Your the boss who have you got you eye on to bring in?
CP: That Ross McCormack from Leeds looks quite tasty he single handedly defeated us at the valley and certainly knows where the back of the net is. That would be spoiling me though.

With all due respect it's a little early to judge the new owner. He could just be the breath of fresh air that we have been looking for and the introduction of Poyet and Lennon is very pleasing!

CP: Thanks Daddy.
If the new owner is going to be a success it will be by playing a very careful FFP game to ensure that we eradicate our debts and compete with other FL clubs with a huge financial advantage. How much are the Trotters in debt - £150m???

I'm just slightly suspicious of someone who joined this list on 21 January and who has done little since but attack Powell.
