Thank you Sue for the info, but I queried on Friday that players had to be registered by noon to play Saturday and was told no. Are you saying this is the case

International clearance is different from registration. It relies on the Football Association of the country the player is playing in sending paperwork to ours effectively giving him permission to play in England.

Being registered at the FA is step one, and the only step for players coming from another English club. For Players coming from overseas, however, there is a step two: international clearance. This can obviously take a lot longer, depending on which national FA you are dealing with.

As Sue said international clearance was needed by 12 noon Saturday, not Friday, hence three hours before kick off CP didn't know who would be available to play.

  • Pretty sure the song goes Scooby Dooby do.. That new version don't scan well
  • they said on SSN that the FIFA international clearance programme/database had cocked up/having difficulties so they said some players signing internationally into the country not be available to play on saturday
  • So does he have clearance now or are we still waiting?
  • Thanks for the info Sue. A simple official Tweet from the club stating that we didn't receive his international clearance in time would be all that was required to prevent this kind of speculation and perhaps even unjustified criticism of CP and his team selection. Still nothing on the official site so I guess we'll have to keep on guessing.
  • So is he Injured, ill or not good enough yet.

    That is the £800,000 question

  • We buy a novice for £600k and let Smith go for peanuts, who could do a job now. Only at Charlton
  • Find it funny that people are still listing him in their 'first' XI picks, clearly he's not good enough at the moment or he'd be featuring.
  • I'm hoping he gets a start at the Wendies tomorrow, alongside Tudgay. Reza looked below par, Church only really offers effort and 2 of his type of games in 3 days will be too much, and Sordell still looks off the pace. If Piotr doesn't get at least some game time tomorrow and isn't actually injured it will be very strange.
  • Tudgay can't play tomorrow.
  • How many people on here have actually seen him play consistently?

But suddenly he's the new messiah and the conspiracy theories are out again. Oh dear.
  • Well said Grapevine
  • Well said Grapey x 2
  • Piotr will feature tomorrow.

He had an iffy game during the week. Regardless, CP will utilise him tomorrow. Wednesday are a big side, so we need the taller players in both boxes (AA, Pete).

Tudgay can't play tomorrow. It was worth giving Tudgay minutes on the pitch, just to help him settle. Sordell will start against Wednesday, with Church or Pete IMO.

Be patient. The expectation that I feel some are putting on his shoulders is crazy. Piotr has a role to play.

Some of you boys and girls need to concentrate on 'The Big Game' Roly style. It's all about identifying and developing younger talent which will move the club forward whether the talent stays or is sold on for a handsome profit.

Of course it all sounds so very easy but in the real world there will be winners and losers. Peter Parsley has been identified as a potential future star but tier 2 in Holland is far less intense than tier 2 in England which in fact is the 6th toughest division in the whole of Europe due to the depth of the English game.

Perhaps Peter has been lined up for playing in 14/15 season and so to state or intimate that he is a Roly dud is a very short term evaluation. Remember most fans complain that it's the owners who take a short term view to hiring and firing but it appears there are some on here who may have become infected!

    Well said.

And who was it who said that ALL Spurs fans were insular, boorish, know-nothing, black cab drivers?

    Oh, it was me!
    ;-)
  • It really is so fortunate we are blessed with so many football aficionados - perhaps we should ask RD whether they can join his European scouting network.

Piotr is clearly such a complete tool he nearly joined Benfica who offered him a 5yr contract and Nantes who offered him a 4yr contract, whilst attracting reportedly strong interest from Aston Villa and West Ham.

When he was approached by the club about joining for next season HE asked whether he could come now, because he wanted to sort out his future and give himself time to acclimatise which sounds quite a sensible plan. We agreed to his request.

I have an idea. Can we perhaps let the guy settle into a new country, play a few games and then make a judgement.

In all honesty when we already have one new forward trying to adjust to the league and yet to find his feet (Reza) putting an even more inexperienced young player alongside him is not a great idea for either of them.

Which is why we now have Tudgay and hopefully Wright Phillips.

    Record number of likes?
  • The thing that concerns me is that RD reportedly said that some/one of our new signings were "not so good" or something very similar. I do hope that he wasn't referring to Peter, in that he hasn't proved to be as good as anticipated.

  • Haven't heard him say that, but I was a bit surprised when Tudgay arrived on loan, as that now makes five senior strikers (Church, Reza, Sordell, Tudgay & Pete the Pole).

Given that RD is not rumoured to be keen on parting with his hard earned, it can only mean that Pete the Pole was signed primarily for next season or that he was bought for this season, and has been deemed either not ready or not good enough.

Not sure what to make of it, but clearly one of those five is going to have to hit a bit of a purple patch between now and the end of the season, or we will be well and truly in the shite!

Was really proud of my 33 likes for a comment last week. Of course Grapey's brought me right back down to earth with a killer comment
  • It might be worth noting that Piotr said that we were interested in signing him this Summer but needed him in January to help out earlier instead.
  • still not made the bench tonight
  • he is at the game by the looks of this instagram vid of the players arriving
