Wednesday v Charlton FA Cup (Monday 24th 7.45, p23)

  • The suggestion has been that Tuesday 25th is the most likely date. Given the absence of any replays in the six ties to date, the Wednesday game will, I understand be televised, as both ITV and BT have screening rights. If Brighton v Hull tomorrow night is a draw (a real possibility), our game at Hillsborough might end up on Wednesday 26th. Hopefully we'll know where we are by Tuesday morning.

If we draw with Wednesday, the replay at the Valley would presumably have to be on 4 or 5 March (if the police are prepared to relax their 10 day period for replays) or even Saturday 8th, when we are due to play Watford.

England play Denmark on the 5th of March so that may change things

ITV have champions league on the 25th and Coronation Street on the 26th. Hopefully BT sport show us.

The quarter final ties are on 8/9 March.

    Move game to this week:
Don't the police need some sort of notice?

    Move game to 25th Feb:
Surely this won't happen. Tickets/travel would have been booked by fans of both Charlton and Barnsley, with only a week to refund and administer.

    Move game to 1st March:
I feel this is more likely. Postponing Leicester game. If it's drawn, replay on 4th March, then QF on 8th March. Yes refunds will have to administered to bth sets of Leicester and Charlton fans, but it gives more time to do this.

  • This has turned into a totally different game for us now.
This will be one of our biggest games in years for a chance to play United in the qf, man it doesn't get any bigger then that apart from the final itself.

I cant wait to see the tears in your eyes when we beat you. Oh and we get another day out in Sheffield to beat Utd for you as you lot won't do it.
  • Errr - why no tv possibility OP ?
  • How many are we looking at for the replay then? 1000?

1000 maximum, if we can only take 550 to Oxford

Shame we couldn't sell a few more tickets now we know we are playing Sheff Utd in the next round. I will struggle to go now as I am taking Una from the saturdays up the West End on that day.

Think this will happen as this week would have been featuring cup replays, as there is not any, bar possibly Brighton tomorrow, am confident our game will be shown.
    Viewing figures, 10 million
  • Cant believe how well united are doing in this comp. Wont be an easy game for whoever has to play them.

    Still rather them than forest.

What have I been telling you for ages.......................:-)
  • Just our luck. They bloody come good when we go on our best cup run for years.

He is a Wednesday fan they know everything.

  • I guess if ITV/BT aren't obliged to show it and they don't fancy it then it won't be on TV.
  • @RichCawleySLP: #cafc game against Sheffield Wednesday will be on Monday. TV?
  • @RichCawleySLP: Can't be on the Tuesday because an FA Cup game can't be played on the same night as a FIFA competition. #cafc
  • so that would mean the sat before game would have to be moved.
  • no not really if both teams have to play on the saturday neither of them gains a advantage by playing it on a Monday.
  • Id rather we had a game before Sheff Wed, even if it will be getting stuffed by QPR
