Good grief, we are already playing on it ! I was very disappointed that we missed Kevin Phillips who has gone to Leicester. I hope that nobody has told Roland that we are safe from relegation, bearing in mind the performance against Oxford , which may reflect the players attitude on contracts. We need some swift decisive action please, this fellow is a highly successful business man, and a bit of communication would not go amiss.
Finding a decent striker and one that will score you goals is always the hardest purchase as most rival clubs are in the market for them.
Darren bent, absolutely no chance of 're-signing for us. That needs to be erased from people's hopes.
Sounds to me like this guy Roland is just evaluating things. We need a striker yes, but we also want a good one, not just any old name/twat like sordell. If Liege have a hungry young striker on form THAT WOULD FIT INTO OUR TEAM and wouldn't mind lending him till the end of the season, that would be nice.
I'm not disapointed we missed out on Phillips, but we are desperate for a striker. I think we need a bit of pace in that position.
We missed out on Phillips several years ago really. He left Palace because of the travel to London, even if we wanted him he wouldn't have come.
We need someone who can put the ball in the onion bag really. We've got away with it in previous years because Jacko and the midfielders have chipped in - but we're a bit lighter on those this year it seems.

Spot on, he was a top top player. But we shouldn't forget he played in our play off victory match and that was 1998!!!!

How good was Mendonca that day, to outshine a player like Phillips. Wonderful time.

true re Mendonca...however, I seem to recall we knobbled Phillips around half time.
Vetokele, Church, Ansah, Ghoochannejhad, Pigott are probably the first-team strikers.
Still feel we need a big lump up front as a plan-B target man.
Ansah and Pigott are both likely to be bought on slowly, as per Big Bob's reputation for doing, which leaves us with two strikers and Church up front. A target man/physical scrapper is a must-have as far as I'm concerned, O'Grady was clearly intended as such but I can't imagine we don't have other options.
Definitely need another quality striker to come in. If Vetokele takes time to settle or picks up an injury we are worse of than the pathetic strike force we had last season.
I see Ansah as a squad replacement for Azeez not as one of the 4 strikers we need , together with Pigott and Pete they make up the 5th forward in my view. Any of them could go on loan somewhere . Ansah has never played in the league.
We have Vetokele , Church and Reza. We need an experienced target man to complete the options in my view.
We need 2 centre backs, big target man up front, experienced goalie to back up pope, another winger and 2 centre mids (though could maybe get by with 1 strong one)
We definitely need more strikers. Vetokele might be a genius but he might also be rubbish. He might also be a genius who breaks his leg in the first game. There is surely not a single person on this board who would be comfortable starting the season with Church, Piggot, Reza and Ansah. We didn't score anything like enough goals last season and one new striker is not the answer to that. We need a lump and we could do with another proven striker as well

This! I might rave about the overall club direction given where we have been, but if Church is our third choice after Reza and Vetokele then we need a £1M+ player up front to make Church fourth choice.
you've all forgotten above Pete the Pole. He is going to come good this season & will play up front as the target man with Reza & Igor playing off him.
Two big strikers for me. Need more than one option that offers strength, competes in the air, holds up the ball and create chances for others. I don't like the idea of any two of the current strikers starting together, unless it turns out Vetokele offers some of the above.
joe pigott, read chris dickson? i sincerely hope not, but will he come good in the view of those who have seen him play close up? ...and will the george howard incident have shaken up his holiday vibe/confidence?

Personally would like Harry Kane but suspect he may go to a team higher in the league.
The only splashing Roland will be doing in the near future is on the hallowed turf !!

Piggott from what I've seen is nowhere near Championship standard currently
Reza needs a target man to play alongside
Church whisper it quietly is our most proven striker at this level...
