A Scapegoat

  • Somebody cocked up, no doubt about it. It was up to the Valley ground staff to give their assessment but ultimately it was up to the management to make the decision. I would have thought, to cover their backsides, they would have taken a pitch inspection early Sat morning at the latest. Somebody will get a bollocking for that I'm sure from the new owners but that's as far as it will go. Shit happens.
  • Shit does surely happen Forrest! It's called our pitch ;-)) But 6 weeks and a sum far less than the transfer payment we paid to The Daggers for Benno would get us a pitch to rival Watford's BUT we do need to 'plough' on until May!

I don't think this one is totally blameless.
  • Strange to see that the Football League guys are silent on this issue? Would have expected a statement from them at least about what they're doing about this by now at least...
  • Gives another bunch of blazers an excuse for lunch sometime next week!
  • I think the drainage is much better on the Peninsula site.
  • Ah now that will rattle a few cages o person born before another :-))

Let's see how tomorrow goes... Or light the blue touch paper and stand well back :-)

I haven't yet read anything as not looked today... I'll come back to you.

Hi NLA, having watched the video, it's clear that the groundstaff did all they could with what they had - I guess the thread went away from topic as it centred on the communication of the cancellation and the anger of fans. I posted the thread as I wondered if fans felt the club would bottle it and blame an easy target. Bradshaws statement, while obvious, at least commits to improvement. Hopefully, with a few away games after tomorrow, this won't happen again. I felt on Saturday our Club was made to look like it is poorly run - maybe it is - but at least we know more than we did.
  • and that is all I was trying to get across, Andy, the club was coming in from criticism outside CAFC and its fan base, yet all the info we were being supplied by our club was that in the opinions of the people we entrust, and based on the decisions made by match officials in the 2 previous games we had acted rightly, and as fans of our club we must not join in that criticism and over react which was happening, your post although angry and passionate was not as bad as some of the nonsense being posted, hence why a debate was able to be had without escalating into an argument and personal snidy remarks, and was good as it meant the info i was being told from a person very close to situation personally on sat could be put out there

and then today when the dust had settled and the club had time to react which I always thought they would as historically cafc take their time to post info and comment even in the days some would paint as glorious perfect times , their version could also be put out via Nathan and the comms department and in a great modern way too hats off to the comms team imo

now the debate on the comms is a good one but its easy for everything to be piled up into a TJ and MS debate and people with their own grievances against those 2 and for some reason Bradshaw, I had lots of issues with TJ and MS I have never met bradshaw and I cant say he is a great man or poor one, yet there were questions regarding his time in and out and what the hell was he doing, who knows but one thing is sure he was not responsible or accountable for the late info getting out to fans

Barnsley have told many false hoods in this situation, and everyone fell for them,

thanks for the debate and look forward to many more tell your mate not bad for two short planks and a WUM , people needed to chill and not be so angry unless they were one of the poor sods who got seriously and financially hit by the postponement , not those who had a couple or few hrs max inconvience

I guess,in the end, the problem goes way back... To the board before TJ/MS
