People that have paid money to travel or most people that have had their Saturday afternoon plans ruined by yesterday have every right to be annoyed.
BUT it does seem that a few people are 'embarrassed' by what other fans and journo's are saying on 606 or social media. I'm not sure why you give a shit what they have to say.
Because what can I or you do about it so I don't get wound up by things I can't influence
Like I said on the other thread about it
Look at the positives
A rest for 5 key players who are carrying knocks
The pitch has no new damage and can be contiued to be worked on
The mgmt can work on the improvements seen by having no new injury concerns
So what if the fa cup game is off aswell it gives the pitch weeks to recover and things to be done
We won't have a cup run anyway we never do
So we will have a free weekend to play the game on a sat
If we did have a cup run we would have a fixture pile up worse than this
Its 2 games not 5
Its a massive over reaction
And one that was caused by this ref having a different opinion to 2 other refs
That is the only thing that we have been told officially by the club so why jump to conclusions and join in the hysteria
NLA - was you going to the game yesterday? You wrote like someone who hadn't wasted time and money getting to the ground...? I think you have to cut people some slack, I was really p@ssed yesterday after a 2 hour round trip, however this morning I can see there are positives to be taken here...
I still feel for the Barnsley fans that made the trip and would expect some form of fine from the football league...
I only live an hour away in tonbridge but have to go via Southampton! Which makes it a fair run back! What has annoyed me are the rumours that the club turned down The offer of a pitch inspection Fri and there lack of communication That could have made this avoidable?
Unless people are going to say the groundstaff are lying and powell is as culpable as paddy and his team and then bradshaw
Then we have the statement from the club as the only facts given
If the club and ground staff and powell are all found to be lying or the person who made the statement or the coms person who put it out then the reaction is justified and I would say do you know what get rid of all of them if they will lie to their own fans faces including chris powell
Until that is proven then I understand the annoyance I have sympathy that people have spent money they can ill afford to waste
BUT the vast majority of the let's say 15k going yesterday were only slightly inconvienced the club has wasted money on food wages and hospitality all that will have to be spent again in the rearranged fixture
The decison was the last anyone wanted but all that couldve been done according to the official word was done
I have to say, after thinking the dome would have the desired effect, I thought I'd see a dry, "crusty" type surface - the soggy pictures I've seen makes me feel that, whoever was keeping an eye on the pitch, was way out of order in saying it was ok. I think the club, again, gambled... And lost. Not down to the ref IMO. He had little choice. The fans, as a result, we're mugged off - this is why emotions are running so high and answers are required.
Mmmm the real problem going forward us how can we drain the playing surface if the surrounding area continues to gather water and continues to top up the water level over the next 6 weeks or so.
Remember the winter of 99/00 when it rained and rained - local leagues down here in Sussex had teams only playing each other once to try and get their competitions finished in April and our pitch is currently worse than a junior league park pitch with no chance of repairing the underground drainage prior to the end of the season.
Lets just hope in future the club has more thought for the fans? Maybee a learning curve in customer pr? I know if I treated my clients(yes that what we are) the way have been lately I wouldn't expect many to come back next week?
All clubs treat their fans with an element of contempt as they know that the fans are emotionally tied
This clubs PR has been in decline long before TJ and MS and it makes me laugh that someone on here who worked there during that time can try to only state the issues as recent
When your on the inside you don't see it or want to
When on the outside its an easy target
The late comms between wilson knowing and everyone else finding out is a thing that can be learned from
But RD has only been in a week they need to see problems to learn lessons unfortunately

Andy, I shared your vision of what state the pitch would be in, what I still don't understand is:-
If the pitch had been under cover for a week with blowers drying it out, why were there still wet patches? Why weren't these areas concentrated on and dried out?
As we have been told on here that the dome wasn't taken off until Saturday morning, the wet patches MUST have been there on Friday, so why were there not concerns then when a local ref could have been called in?
I don't generally knock the club, but something has gone seriously wrong in this instance and a lot of fans have had to pay for the negligence of someone on the staff!
NLA I like your take on this 1) As fans we can't influence individually so don't worry about it 2) There is a new owner and already one new director who will take a fresh look 3) The comms and pitch maintenance are part of the culture of the club which has evolved over years not months The Trust representing nearly a thousand fans and the interests of many more did ask questions in November. And there has been another statement today from the Trust plus attempts to contact fans in the fans forum to see how to approach this.
Perhaps the new owner meeting the old culture will produce a result? Whatever the outcome, January will tell us a lot about where we go as a club in the medium term.
The only thing I disagree with is that I fancy our chances at Huddersfield away especally if we can sort the knocks and get in another striker so I am up for a cup run
Hudds are beatable and there is serious prize money in the 6th round - nothing else to play for this season assuming we climb away from bottom three. All these players who want new contracts - what about showing their stuff in a cup run?

Maybe the water is coming UP from below? Due to the water table and not the rain? I've seen Sky and local news pictures and if this pitch was playable then I'm the next Pope. The club has let us all down here, this was off on Friday - the dome was obviously not working.

" Attempts to contact fans in the fans forum " ????
Contact HAS been made & reponses are awaited, seriously _red.
But not everyone is glued to their pc on a Sunday afternoon so you need to be patient.

U might have a different view?!
BUT it is a home game the vast majority of those attending are in london or a bit of kent
But what can the club do if a ref calls it off
Get an earlier inspection by a local ref
We had two games played on pitches that were comparable so 2 refs said play
If the local ref said yes and the match one no
The game is off even though passed at 9
It is not the clubs fault that people travel 5 hrs to a home game
Which makes it a fair run back!
What has annoyed me are the rumours that the club turned down
The offer of a pitch inspection Fri and there lack of communication
That could have made this avoidable?

What's the punishment to be
Sack them all or let's just blame bradshaw
Because
Murray varney etc are as much to blame for the pitch neglect as TJ and MS
Even if I agree the money was better spent at that time elsewhere
Like I posted before the game was called off on the new sporting director thread
All employees need to up their game and show their worth
You can bet RD will want an explanation let's see who's head rolls
Will you feel better then

If I had been him I wouldve said there is no way these clowns didn't know this would be off so he aint lying there
Has the club agreed that they turnt down a pitch inspection yesterday
The pitch is not becoming of a pro club that's a fact it is un deniable
But the blame lies in years of under investment
Years of the club in decline
Years of spinning PR that is to get us all to believe that those running the club are the right ones to do it
But the cold facts are yesterday could not have been avoided unless we are being lied too and that is a big and bold allegation to make
It would still have had an impact on barnsley and those who travelled 5 hrs though
Maybee a learning curve in customer pr?

We have 3 games with the same pitch conditions according to ground staff and chris powell in the official statement
2 refs said game on and 1 didn't
If the local ref said yes the match ref couldve still called it off
If we had not have pulled hudds out I would agree SR
The new owners need to put this on their top priority list!
