  • Regarding Gower hasn't he already said he is retiring at the end of this season?
  • I think Cook is worth another season
  • Ben Hamer 3
    Ben Alnwick 3
    Michael Morrison 3
    Dorian Dervite 0
    Leon Cort 1
    Richard Wood 2
    Rhoys Wiggins 4
    Cedric Evina 2
    Danny Green 0
    Mark Gower 0
    Johnnie Jackson 1
    Bradley Pritchard 1
    Andy Hughes 0
    Dale Stephens 4
    Jordan Cook 1
    Yann Kermorgant 2
    Michael Smith 2

  • Depends largely on budget, which division we end the season in and other players availability. Regardless of that, I would offer contracts to Wiggins, Yann and Stephens. For continuity I would probably sign up a couple of others now and the rest can wait.
  • Ben Hamer - 2
    Ben Alnwick - 2
    Michael Morrison - 2
    Dorian Dervite -1
    Leon Cort - No
    Richard Wood - 1
    Rhoys Wiggins - 2
    Cedric Evina - No
    Danny Green - No
    Mark Gower - No
    Johnnie Jackson - 1
    Bradley Pritchard - 1
    Andy Hughes - Coach
    Dale Stephens - 2
    Jordan Cook - No
    Yann Kermorgant - 2
    Michael Smith - 1

I dont, League 1 player at best.
  • Michael Morrison
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Dale Stephens
    Yann Kermorgant

That's about it, subject to budget, most of the others could be replaced with better free transfers in the summer if we had a larger wages budget.
  • Difficult to answer without having a proper understanding of our post-takeover playing budget. I think our squad is actually ok, it's just short on a couple of top-end players if we had the elusive 20-goal-a-season striker and an Andy Reid-style creative midfielder then we'd be drawing games we've been losing and winning the ones we've been drawing. Look at how we plummeted down the table of the back of selling Andy Reid in 2008. I like to see continuity in goal, so I'd keep the keepers unless we were financially capable of making a big step up in quality.

Reluctant to let Green go, still think there's a decent player in there, but I think he's used up most of his chances now.

    Ben Hamer
    Ben Alnwick
    Michael Morrison
    Dorian Dervite
    Richard Wood
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Cedric Evina
    Johnnie Jackson
    Bradley Pritchard
    Dale Stephens
    Yann Kermorgant
    Michael Smith
  • Ben Hamer - 3
    Ben Alnwick - 3
    Michael Morrison - 3
    Dorian Dervite - 2
    Leon Cort - 1
    Richard Wood - 2
    Rhoys Wiggins - 4
    Cedric Evina - No
    Danny Green - 1
    Mark Gower - No
    Johnnie Jackson - 2
    Bradley Pritchard - 2
    Andy Hughes - No
    Dale Stephens - 3
    Jordan Cook - No
    Yann Kermorgant - 2
    Michael Smith - 2
  • Really want Hughes to be offered something just to keep him at the club.

He's an interesting one isn't he. Powell clearly doesn't rate him and he's only got a game last couple of weeks when we've been as desperate as I can remember for new ideas and numbers. Wonder what happened there. I seem to remember people saying he was on Powell's transfer wish list at the time too.

I think it's hard to comment as he's hardly played. In truth if we aren't going to sign someone who is better than a player that's started, from memory, two games in two years then we have bigger problems than we realise.
  • It sort of depends what their wages are but those who I think have done enough are;

    Ben Hamer
    Ben Alnwick
    Michael Morrison
    Dorian Dervite
    Richard Wood
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Johnnie Jackson
    Bradley Pritchard
    Dale Stephens
    Yann Kermorgant
Michael Smith (provided he can show something at this level over the next few months)
  • Amazed some would not look to give Jacko a contract. What game do you watch

The same ones as he watches, that's the problem :-)
  • Yes:
    Ben Hamer - 3 years
    Ben Alnwick - 1 year
    Michael Morrison - 3 years
    Rhoys Wiggins - 3 years
    Johnnie Jackson - 2 years
    Bradley Pritchard - 2 years
    Yann Kermorgant - 2 years

    + Powell 10 years! :)

    No:
    Dorian Dervite - Too Inconsistant
Leon Cort - If he was fit then yes
Richard Wood - Am I being too harsh in thinking we can do better?
Cedric Evina - Clearly not a Powell favourite
Danny Green - League 1 Standard
Mark Gower - Hasn't played enough to convince me
Andy Hughes - Hopefully a coaching role instead of a playing one
Dale Stephens - A controversial choice, but for me he's a Ambrose type player, ie too inconsistent.
Jordan Cook - Just nowhere near championship standard
Michael Smith - Hope he can prove me wrong int he next couple of months!
  • I like them all, but realistically we'll need spaces in order to bring new faces in. Realistically it's all dependent on the contracts that they're on though...

    Definitely
    Ben Alnwick
    Michael Morrison
    Richard Wood
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Johnnie Jackson
    Dale Stephens
    Yann Kermorgant
    Michael Smith

    Maybe
Ben Hamer: if we can only have one first choice keeper then it would be BA at the moment.
Jordan Cook: comes on and plays brilliantly every new year. Needs a bit more, but there's a good player in there.
Bradley Pritchard: meteoric rise hasn't continued and confidence has had a bashing. Can Powell recover it?
Dorian Dervite: big and solid, but maybe too slow for the game at this level

Cedric Evina: cover for Wiggins, Fox can do this
    Leon Cort: Lots of injuries
Andy Hughes: Injuries and age catching up with him
Danny Green: Not quick enough to maintain a first team berth.
    Mark Gower: Not shown enough
  • Sometimes I do hope the players don't actually read Charlton Life. Or if they do they are mature enough to know it's all bollocks anyway.
