  • To not too.
  • Ben Hamer
Ben Alnwick - I think he is a better all round keeper than Hamer - not much between them shot stopping - Alnwick lacks kicking of Hamer but is more effective in quick release of the ball
Richard Wood - our best CB in my opinion
Rhoys Wiggins - I would like to sign him for 2/3 years
Cedric Evina - needs to be given a proper chance
Johnnie Jackson - worth another year - showed his worth yet again at Ipswich
Dale Stephens - improved massively in the last two months
Yann Kermorgant - still a lot to offer - no sign of slowing - 1 year
Michael Smith - Jury out - good loan spell in league two - need to see what he can do at this level
  • Ben Hamer
    Ben Alnwick

    Michael Morrison
    Dorian Dervite
    Leon Cort
    Richard Wood
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Cedric Evina
    Danny Green
    Mark Gower
    Johnnie Jackson
    Bradley Pritchard
    Andy Hughes
    Dale Stephens
    Jordan Cook
    Yann Kermorgant
    Michael Smith
  • Players who i'd definitely give contracts too right now.

    Ben Hamer - 1yr
    Ben Alnwick - 1yr
    Michael Morrison - 1yr
    Dorian Dervite - 1yr
    Richard Wood - 1yr
    Johnnie Jackson - 1yr
    Dale Stephens - 2yrs
    Yann Kermorgant - 2yrs
    Rhoys Wiggins - 2yrs

The jury is still out on the rest.
  • Ben Alnwick or Hamer - not both
    Michael Morrison - first team
Dorian Dervite - as 4th choice
    Richard Wood - first team
    Rhoys Wiggins - first team
    Cedric Evina - good backup
Johnnie Jackson - as a coach
    Dale Stephens - first team
    Yann Kermorgant - first team
Michael Smith - learn from Kerm
  • Contract:
    Ben Hamer - 2 Year
    Ben Alnwick - 2 Year
    Michael Morrison - 2 Year
    Richard Wood - 1 Year
    Rhoys Wiggins - 2 Year
    Johnnie Jackson - 1 Year
    Dale Stephens - 2 Year
    Yann Kermorgant - 1 Year
    Michael Smith - 1 Year

    Andy Hughes - Coaching Role

    Release:
    Dorian Dervite
    Leon Cort
    Cedric Evina
    Danny Green
    Mark Gower
    Jordan Cook

    Undecided:
    Bradley Pritchard

Isn't Dillion Phillips, Kevin Feely, Morgan Fox, Kadell Daniel, Danny Hollands, Bradley Jordan, Harry Gerard, Oliver Muldoon, Ade Azzez & Tobi Sho-Silva out of contract as well?

  • Impossible to say without knowing who's coming in. If no-one comes in, then there's hardly a player there I wouldn't give a contract to. Though Hughes and Gower might have to be on play as you play.
With the right replacements, no-one on that list is indispensable.
  • All of them except Gower and Green.

What does play as you play entail?
  • Wiggins is priority number one

We definitely need a new CB and Cook has to go.
  • I honestly can believe that some people would not give Wood a contract! He has been our standout defender this season even with the few games he has played this season.

    Oops, pay as you play.
  • God that list puts it into perspective

    Ben Hamer Yes

    Ben Alnwick Yes

    Michael Morrison Yes

    Dorian Dervite Yes

Leon Cort No (reluctantly because I like him but mid thirties and long term injuries don't mix).

    Richard Wood Yes

    Rhoys Wiggins Yes

Cedric Evina Jury out. Depends on other full backs and wing backs coming through.

    Danny Green No

    Mark Gower No

    Johnnie Jackson Yes

    Bradley Pritchard Yes

    Andy Hughes No

Dale Stephens Depends which Dale is up for offer. Yes to the one who plays alongside Cousins.

    Jordan Cook No

    Yann Kermorgant Yes

Michael Smith Jury out. Depends on other strikers coming through although his physical presence in what is largely a physically small squad is a plus.
  • To be kept (including players already signed up)

    Ben Hamer
    Ben Alnwick
    Chris Solly
    Lawrie Wilson
    Michael Morrison
    Dorian Dervite
    Rhoys Wiggins
    Jordan Cousins
    Johnnie Jackson
    Dale Stephens
    Callum Harriott
    Joe Piggott
    Yann Kermorgant
    Michael Smith
    Simon Church

Add a right back, 2 centre backs, a left back, a right winger, a central midfielder, a left midfielder and a striker.

8 players in (half on loan, a couple of frees and a couple of small fees) and a few youngsters stepping up and we will have an ok squad
  • DAZZLER21 £100k pw. Sorted.... well I would be!

    I like your thinking!
I would add Evina, Wood and Fox to that list - Fox as a younster stepping up? And look to Standard Liege loans and a few decent signings - suddenly we are a top 8 team challenging for the top 6!
Given the potential for a crack at the play offs it makes no sense to scrimp on the signings - especially when it comes to key positions which need strengthening in the squad.

  • Wood is the best of a bunch of pretty poor centre-backs. How Dervite was preferred over Taylor I'll never know.
