Tony Jiminez clearly fancies himself as a bit of a player in the football industry, the only problem he has is that he has nothing like the cash needed to be one.
Bottom line is that you probably need a good $30 million plus to buy a Championship team and get them to the Premier League promised land and he sure as shit doesn't have that.
This is big boys stuff these days, look at the cash tipped in by the Thai guy at Leicester or even Tan at Cardiff - you are competing with some big beasts.
There has been so much mud slinging on here by people that haven't got a clue just because a few high profile posters/sacked employees have had a moan
I thought it was a dignified post from TJ, it's a done deal now and I think we should all get behind the new regime, even if some have a few reservations
"just because a few high profile posters/sacked employees have had a moan"
Well I can tell you that in this instance it's you who doesn't have a clue. If you knew/had family members working at the club and had to see the way they'd been treated then I think you'd think about it a lot differently.
Sounds like a decent bloke and his comments seem reasonable and honest. It appears not all of us hated the owners. They bought in Powell and got us promoted, what else was there to achieve in such a short time?
It was Varney that brought in Powell and it was Powell, his management team and his players that got us promoted.
Jiminez bit off more than he could chew and Slater was solely around to protect his master's investment and keep a leash on Big Tone. They couldn't care less about the Club and its staff (its supporters for that matter) and showed that through neglect at the highest management level. Good riddance.
This reminds me of the resignation letter you hand in when you hate your employers but you are trying to be professional and not burn bridges. But longer. Much longer. I would have preferred him to say.
"I didn't make as much money as I had gambled on, and your poxy little football club is costing me money and time. Over the next year or so I hope to be able to make a quick buck elsewhere to offset the disappointment."
Did TJ really expose himself to any financial risk ? I just thought he was a bloke who spins a yarn and gets people to put money in his schemes so he ends up with a free bet . I know people who have dealt with him financially and they told me he was a bit of a ducker and diver (that's putting it politely) Shame the spin given to lure Cashs cash wasn't nearer reality but then someone else may have had to buy us back then and who knows what may have happened

I don't buy any of it but then it may have his name on it but it has been written by a PR guy to spin as positive a message as possible.
Glad his era is over. Perhaps the best that can be said is that in throwing Cash's money at the team in the first year, and appointing CP, they got us from an admin basket case in tier 3 into an admin basket case in tier 2.
I would believe it slightly more if the bloke had just once in those wonderful three years had the good grace and courtesy to address the fans or shown us anything other than contempt. Bye Tony I'm glad you've gone.
Do you believe we will get more correspondence from the Belgian??
Some people would moan because TJ and MS wouldn't be at the games. The new guy owns about 6 clubs, he can't be at them all.
Can see there being plenty of double standards.
How can I believe that the new owner will engage more ? I hope the new owner will. In fact on thinking about it if he says just one solitary word he will have achieved that.
On double standards. I know that TJ and MS were businessmen who because of their investment couldn't attend every game but I would have expected them to attend more given their predominantly UK based investment. Duchatelet will attend very few no doubt and given his interests are continental based I don't blame him for that.

But he said nothing as to "Why he sold Charlton" - you've been taken in - he was a chancre with no interest in the club
He sold Charlton because another business man came in and offered him money to take it off his hands. It was a business deal, and any clap trap about how he wanted someone coming in who will love and care for the club is just so much hot air. I know nothing about RD, but even brushing aside the posts from other members of his club collection, he is a business man first and foremost, and will look to make money. As fans, we all go with the simple equation of success=profit+happiness, but in the world of cold finance, other factors come into play. TJ has done a fair bit for us, and I think he can honestly claim to have left us better than he found us, and if he made some money for his work, fair play. But he was'nt a Charlton fan, neither is RD, and we are, so the rest just sounds like the old routine of the new player kissing the club badge on his shirt after scoring his debut goal. It's just an act. I never hated TJ, but a football club like ours needs constant topping up, and as he ran out of cash, I'm glad someone new is in. I hope he'll do right by us, and deep down I'm optimistic, but this is finance, not football, and we're just spectators at a different sort of game.

In which case,he should have said "the reason I sold Charlton was because I ran out of money"
I'd send him a lovely email if I had his email address. Whatever has happened backstage we are still around and a division higher with the potential now to consolidate and challenge in the next few years.
Whether it was his money or not the fact remains he was a director and was involved whilst all the critics sat about moaning. Hopefully next time we're up shit creek someone who critiscised jiminze et al will stump up and show us how to do it.

Basically new era and come on you reds!
If you really want to send him a 'lovely email' I think there's a link at the top of the page on his Huffingtonpost blog - he can add it to the other "kind messages and emails" which he claims to have received from fans.

To what end? Seriously why would he pay someone to do a PR job for him?

1. If he was good at speaking for himself he would have done so by now 2. He needs the best spin he can get for any future in football so best to get a professional writer to do it. I would is I were he.
I would say that was definitely written by a professional writer. It is quite polished but doesn't really say anything. The thank you for your support stuff that it may be seen as be sarcastic is co incendental and don't think is intentional. It would not be in Tjs future interest to inject that kind of bitterness or subtle humour in his statement. TJ is not that subtle. This is a PR piece to gloss over any problems relating to his time at the club.
One of the few things, I am pleased about is that TJ is no longer involved with the club. It remains to be seen whether his last act in disposing the club to RD will be a good thing for Charlton. Time will tell.
Most of the good things that happened was with other peoples money, and the turn around in management and playing staff by Varney / Kavanagh. On evidence, TJs business relationships soured and the club ultimately failed to prosper because of that.

Slater probably wrote it. He was excellent at talking but saying nothing.
Anyway, hopefully all the "little people"/creditors, that Charlton owe, will now get paid.
I believe they are important, unlike Jimenez and Slater.
He wouldn't have a scooby that there's dissent in the fan base because he won't read this message board and it represents a minuscule proportion of the support. If he did realise I'm sure he wouldn't give a single toss.

Sorry, incorrect. Slater & Jimenez are extremely aware of what is said on here.
Specifically, Slater has mentioned it on every occasion he's spoken in public, that I've attended.
Comments
He didn't say anything why Duchalet would be good for Charlton's stability either.
