Whether it is positive or negative we should not exclude Kevin Cash from this thread, it was his money that got us out oif Div1 and the lack of it that has left us floundering for the last season and a half.
On the plus side, they appointed Chris Powell and KC bought us a new team, so thanks for that. On the down side, they had no idea about communication and were pretty disastrous in the HR area. I don't think for a minute they gave a toss about Charlton and those posters thanking them as though TJ and MS did it out if the goodness of their hearts are suffering from some weird variant of Stockholm Syndrome.
They get my thanks... At the start of that season we were forced to play people like Bally Smart on non-contract terms (no offence but thats the sort of deal you see in the Conf South and lower), one year later they've stopped us from going into Administration (would that have led to League Two?) and they'd given Powell a good war chest from the Jenkinson money (many owners would take that cash and say thank you without it going back into the club) and it enabled us to have our best ever season in history.
It didnt go to plan in the Championship yet they're leaving having tied down a lot of our promising youngster to long term Contracts (Solly / Cousins / Harriott / Pigott / Muldoon / Munns)... Its just irritating they've let the Contracts run down for everyone else and they've not given us the means to compete at this level this year
Hence why its not a thank you which involves me going down on my knees and kissing their feet... Yet it is still a thank you
If the deal goes through and we are in the hands of new owners history will show that their 3 year tenure has been good. Three years ago admin loomed. Who would have thought that 3 years later we would have appointed SCP, won division one with a record number of points, came 9th in championship and also appointed Paul Hart for the academy (one of the best in the game). Not without blemish (poor communication/falling out with the old guard) but 3 years ago we all would have bitten our hands off for that.
I think we have commented in previous posts that if they managed to sell before we imploaded, history will be kind to their reign. They quickly achieved their objective of promotion, appointed a popular manager and backed him until the money ran out. People closer to proceedings may have been affected by their management practices and decisions, but as fans they left us stronger than when they found us. I never saw the point in being ultra critical and demonstrating against them because they always had the objective of selling us and we wanted them to sell us to.

For the bad reputation of dodgy people, they didn't actually do the club that much harm - if you look at our progression since their takeover it's a positive outcome.
No thanks required though, they are businessmen with a football background. Charlton as a club, probably does not mean much to them.
I personally thin k it has to be a thank you to TJ, MS and KC if you look at where the club was when they took over compared to where it is now.
Im sure there are some that didn't have issues with Parky and but I don’t think he was a particularly good manager and had little to no respect from the fans. Our playing squad was poor and you only have to look at Sheffield United to see how slippery that slope can get. They have brought in a manager with a massive amount of respect from the fans who (hopefully) won’t get sacked on a wim. Their efforts got us out of league 1, improved our youth system and got us a manager I would like to see at the club for a similar amount of time as curbs…barring no complete disasters.
Admittedly goings on at board level last season seemed strange and volatile seemingly with people who have done good things for the club forced to leave, however, except for the tangible aspect of those people leaving a lot of the discussion around this has been intangible speculation.
This season has been somewhat less positive and with the lack of investment, the state of the pitch and rumours of administration around the corner I, like many of those posting on this tread, think its time for the board to leave and I don’t want them at the club anymore.
Having said that I think the issues we had when they came to club were one hell of a lot worse than the problems we have now, all of which I see as being relatively easily solvable (new contracts, improving the pitch and possible the odd signing to push us up the table).
On balance it has to be a thank you but time to leave.
With those ‘simple’ issues to solve its now up to the new man to right the recent wrongs and show he is the right person to take us forward from here.
I will extend my thanks to kevin cash for funding the promotion push
i will extend no thanks to TJ or MS who, as others have said, are chancers of the highest order.
i still cannot fathom why a london club with 15k minimum home attendance and a modest wage bill needs to be run at a multi million pound annual loss in the Champ.
i hope to also see the end of prothero who is stealing a living, in my opinion
i am happy that Duchalet seems to have done them chancers a kipper with a sub-20M purchase price. He has a decent pedigree in football so lets see
he needs to be made aware that CAFC has some unique qualities and above all is a.community club. The alienation of.community activities, which had taken much hard work to develop, is the biggest stick i beat those chancers with.
adios u greasy operators. Lets hope the new man sees is for what we are, a friendly and family orientated community.club
We're going to need a key soon for all these acronyms. I just read "PP also bought the likes of Powel Abbott to the club, David Mooney and Paul Benson" and assumed we were talking about Paddy Powell.
"i still cannot fathom why a london club with 15k minimum home attendance and a modest wage bill needs to be run at a multi million pound annual loss in the Champ."
There's no doubt we've progressed on the pitch but we have been going backwards this season.
The way they've forced proper Charlton people out of the club is what will always stick with me though.
Do you also hold this grudge against Murray and the previous board members who 'forced proper Charlton people out of the club' following successive relegations?
Thanks for everything that they have done - getting us out of league 1 when we were on our knees. But that's it. The lack of investment in the pitch and to a certain extent the squad is nothing less than scandalous. As paying customers, we deserved better.
I have always been amazed at the amount of stick dished out on her to the owners. Be careful what you wish for. I suspect we might be looking back in a few months wishing they were still here.
we wont. keep the faith. out of all the potential names linked, RD feels me with the most optimism. i dont know why...but im hopeful that the belgian bankroller is going to usher in a brighter period for us.
I don't think they particularly merit our thanks. They came into this to make money for themselves, and for a while their interests in growing the value of the club were aligned with the supporters' wish to see Charlton progress.
Any business decisions they made would have been primarily based on either reducing running costs or increasing/protecting revenue and assets. There's nothing altruistic about that. I am relieved that their intervention meant the threat of administration receded, and they made some key decisions correctly. They kept the club going until (apparently) another buyer could be found.
I bear them no ill will and hope they got their money back, but it goes no further than that.

Really and truly their reign has been a success, promotion and a successful first season in the championship.
I don't know the ins and outs of why there's been a high turnover in staff so I won't judge them on that.
Well done and good luck Jiminez and Slater.

History will record you as brief and not the worst owners.

God I need some sleep.
How many clubs run at a profit then?
