Protest Question

  • Are we protesting about them getting us out of league 1, or failing to buy us into the premiership yet?

Personally I would be protesting against the fact that in less than 3 weeks majority of players and coaching staff can talk to other clubs but heyho I guess that dont bother you and you can protest about whatever you like.
There is a difference between it bothering us and accepting there ins't much that can be done about it.

Also would you want to complain if they offered all these players new, improved, contracts and we were relegated and the players' wages forced the club into Administration by next Christmas?

I don't want to be overly critical of this thread but, ultimately, all these protests come down to the fact that some fans are not happy that these men are unwilling to 'donate' millions and millions of pounds of their own money on our hobby. We should remember that there was also a thread where fans were complaining at having to pay £50 a year more for their season tickets, even thought the owners are covering multi-million pound losses.

What, may I ask, is the specific reason for the protest. Is is that they will not put more money in, or that they will not write of c.£20m so that we can have another sucker/fool come in to lose more than most members of CL will earn in their entire lifetimes added together?

Or do you have another reason to complain at these chaps that are bankrolling our hobby?

Also Paulie as you suggest it's 'our club' how much of the £5m loss predicted for this season are you stumping up?

I think we need to create a positive vibe at the Valley , protesting will do the opposite & not achieve much , it might make certain fans feel like they've got stuff off their chests , but i think it will have a destabilising effect on the team , better to moan on here at the moment, and get behind the players at the match.
  • Paulie; why are you so concerned about contracts running down? With financial fair play combined with terrible revenue I see that as a positive
  • LOL. Yeah, players' contracts, what are they good for?
  • Depends on the player. Read the post by Kings Hill Addick. Nail on the head
  • Did we protest after giving dowie ridiculous money to spunk

Did we protest against pardont in his last few months

Did we protest after 18 winless games we appointed the caretaker mgr

Why the hell do it now the last chairman fecked up but people said nowt

And no one will say nowt now this is accepted as ok at cafc

And really we don't know why any takeover keeps failing

to me it is really about none of the above - it is quite simply that not only did the owners not strengthen an already weakened team in the summer (don't let the 9th place finish fool you - we weren't that good last season & spent most of it around 18/20th place looking over our shoulder and only a decent run in April saved us) but they let players leave without replacing them, so much so that I week before the start of the season we had just Yann & Piggott up front. And them to add insult to injury, they have let almost all the senior professionals - as well as the manager - to be out of contract in the summer.

If you think that is acceptable then fine. I do not. I happen to think that if you buy a club, big yourself up in the matchday programme, then fail to deliver, then you deserve to come in for some criticism.

    Spot on.
  • Well I don't know about the rest of you but I'll be protesting tomorrow. Yep, I'll be there for my first game this season with my free ticket the club sent me protesting about how the owners have not been investing their billions in our club.

Yeah who cares if Hamer,Wiggins,Jacko,Stephens,Kermo,Powell and Dyer are out of contract
  • That's only 5 players though, out of about 25. And as its been mentioned before Stephens has been homesick, Kermorgant and Jackson are injury riddled and the wrong side of 30, Hamer is bipolar and Wiggins isn't exactly Ashley Cole is he?

Personally I don't think a protest is right, the board took us over saving us from Administration, financed the record breaking promotion season and are trying to break even in a league where money doesn't always buy you success.

Why is that so hard to take in?

Yes they want to sell, but at the right price for them.

    So what?

Better than leaving us to fold or giving us away to any Tom, Dick or Harry

Spot on. Nowt to protest about in my eyes. Only contract I'm properly worried about is Powell's atm so we should show our support for that.

As someone said up thread financial fair play is a massive game changer and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in regards to running contracts down. Not that many of our current lot id be desperate to tie down.

    Agree about Powell.

The only "protest" that should be made is non stop singing of "Chrissy Powells red army" and "give Powell a new contract, give Powell a new contract, give Powell etc" ...
  • We have no money to invest do you want a cafc or a pompey golfie
  • Before you protest you need a coherent message that you are trying to communicate - I don't think there is on here.

Given that the targets of this protest are unlikely to be there or care even if they were I think it best that we get behind the team in what will be a very tough game.
