Protest Question

Just a random question as I noticed it was mentioned in the Takeover thread.

How many people here would be willing to protest against MS and TJ and how would you like to go about it.

Personally I have never been more worried about our club with majority of players and staff out of contract and able to talk to clubs in less than 3 weeks, Now the takeover collapse has happened I think its clear MS and TJ care only about money and not the club.

So if anyone had any ideas I would be up for a protest in some capacity to show MS and TJ how much our club means to us the fans.

  • I'm sure you will see a lot of anger towards them if we lose again on saturday
  • I'm guessing that MS & TJ won't be at The Valley on Saturday.

I would be very surprised if they have the front to show their faces.

I would assume that as well but they could have someone there for them and if some protest did happen I am sure it would get back to them (TJ will find out after he has watched his precious Chelsea)
  • It won't make an ounce of difference.
  • 3/4 of those present wouldn't know why the protest was going ahead.

Only 3 or 4? I thought it would be more than that......

We need a lot of noise and support for the team on Saturday not a hostile atmosphere that will have no effect on the owners at all. We don't know the reason how or why the deal collapsed so it is all a bit pointless. We need 100% energy and backing for the team, god knows they'll need it against Derby.

  • If we protest then would they not interpret it differently, and look as it as an excuse to sack Chris Powell?

I agree and I'm still grateful they got involved in the club and got us out of L1. Yes, it is worrying times but what really can be gained by encouraging the team to play badly.

    .

  • Seems pointless, even if they are to blame and I for one don't really know, they will not care a jot about our protests. Let's face it, they are trying to sell, that much is clear, who knows why it has not yet happened.

Look at what happened when Blackburn fans protested against their new Venkys owners, they created a toxic atmosphere and the players gave up as they had an excuse for their poor performances meaning they got relegated, and guess what, they are in a lower division, still there, with poorer players, massive debt...and the same lot owning the club cause they can't find anone to buy it.

I don't want to be too defeatest / negative but if there were any protests then i would personally suggest they are kept out of the ground, ie pre or post match and when the game starts everyone gets behind Powelly and the team.

What do we protest about and to what aim? - We don't know the details of why the American pulled out - We know we were doing ok until Cash pulled out - Do we protest because Cash stopped the er.... cash? I'm not saying I am happy with the board but I have said before - we do have one thing in common - we want them to sell and they want to sell! So what would be the objective is demonstrating when it could damage team confidence and make the difference between staying up or going down or even providing negative publicity that could make it harder to attract a buyer?

This is a period where we have to hold our noses, support our team and hope for the best. If the board didn't want to sell, I'd be all for demonstarting to persuade them. But as this is not the case, I can't see the point.
  • A fair question, Paulie, but I suggest we keep our powder dry for the time being.
The fact is - (and it's not something that I like, but it is what it is) - that the club is in private hands and those private hands are seeking to get the best deal available. Whether the 'best deal' is all about them, or whether they have any regard for the state of the club they leave behind, should they sell it, is debatable. But let's just say that they want the best deal that they can get. Let them talk.

The team is in a precarious situation and I think it far better that the fans should be unified in their support of team and manager at this time, rather than protest at what may be happening off the pitch.

This. Much of what's been talked about here and elsewhere is pure speculation. I'm not sure how helpful a protest would be at this stage, especially when we don't really know what we're protesting about!

  • MS has attended a lot more games than people have given him credit for. Sod all we can do, shout out as loud as we can for Chrissy and the lads. I'm sure the Cockney mafia know what we think of them, like they are bovvered innit?
  • Are we protesting about them getting us out of league 1, or failing to buy us into the premiership yet?

Personally I would be protesting against the fact that in less than 3 weeks majority of players and coaching staff can talk to other clubs but heyho I guess that dont bother you and you can protest about whatever you like.
  • Or we can just not protest.
  • from kick off "tony..sign em up tony tony sign em up" constant..
  • Michael slater was at the Yeovil game. he was next door to the vp lounge , was tempted to ask him what is actually going on with our club but bottled it.

MS going to away games?!?!? What's next? A weekly update on how his marathon training is going?
  • Has anyone ever seen Valley Gary any TJ in the same room?
