Not sure about Jackson. Think he's struggling with the pace of this division now. If he's still here next season, it'll be because we're back in L1 or he's happy to be a back-up player. Not knocking him, as I think he's been a great player for us since he signed, but all things must end..............
That's what people said around this time last season. Then he got a bit more match-sharp and scored some really important goals to drag us up the table. Never write off Captain Marvel
And I hope to be wrong on this. We need players like Jacko in the team. One of the few over the last few seasons that seems to have a real affinity with the club, but even JJ can't go on forever........

JJ WAS a great player for Charlton. He WAS a fantastic captain, and an ideal of the values and attitude I expect and admire in a Charlton player. But what he is now, is breaking down, if he hasn't already. He's still got a role to play, he will always be a favourite player of mine, he will be remembered for leading the club on the pitch by example and saving games single handed on occasion....
BUT if this season or next we are relying on Johnny Jackson to be the lynchpin of the team, we are royally fucked, no two ways about it.
Looking at it objectively at the moment, why would the owners offer JJ and Yann new contracts? The former is showing signs of his age and the latter is fat and injury prone. There is at least a 50% chance we'll be relegated in which case all bets. are off for next year. Likewise CPs contract running down means that they can wait and see. They certainly won't sack him as that will cost while he is in contract and it will all be someone else's problem if they manage to sell. The worst thing or the owners at the moment would be if CP walks (I hope he doesn't btw).
I'm not saying that I agree with the current situation. But I can clearly understand why the owners are doing what they are doing.
"Their form has been recognised with new deals, with Munns committing until the summer of 2015 and Muldoon extending his until the end of the 2013/14 campaign"
Only downside would seem to be Muldoon is only until the end of this season but with luck that will give him an opportunity to earn a longer deal.

It, genuinely, upsets me to have to say that I think you're right. Not because I don't want to agree with you Tango, but because I think Jackson has been an inspirational Captain and had real qualities about him, but I think he is struggling to keep his place based, solely, on his performances.
"They are only heroes for so long and then anno domini catches up with them and their days in the sun are numbered!"
It should be neither - if we are to go forward next year, fresh legs are a must. It would be a waste of wages as so many free transfers will be available.

Look under the FFP rules, and one area that doesn't have to go towards FFP is money spent on the academy.
Also, by signing these youngsters on professional contracts, it stops the Premier league knicking them for a pittance under EPP rules...
