Paul Hayes

Just seen Paul Hayes left Brentford,(cancelled contract) so must now be a free agent, would any one like him back he did seem to have some passion for Charlton, and I'am sure his wages would not be too high.

  • I think we are at the point where nobody can come in unless somebody leaves. I really think we have reached the stage where the wages bill cannot be increased no matter how cheap the player may seem.
  • He relies on lost of crosses. So there is no point in him coming back to us.
  • To much of a link up forward which is what we've already got, need a finisher.
  • Sorry Derek, had to flag you for this one
  • Really liked as a player and as a person but not in the Championship.

Good luck to him where ever he ends up. A cancelled contract normally means another club is lined up to take him on (see Leon Cort)
  • Wasnt up to league one standard with us hence why Kermogant was brought in....so no thanks even if he paid us.

I think that's a little harsh. We were top of the division when he was a regular in the side and Kermorgant just became available. If Yann had stayed where he was I suspect that Paul would have been a regular in our side all season, and we were well on target to win the league when he dropped out of the side.

harsh but fair ...he has only gone on play for lower sides with limited success ...we may have fallen to that level in a years time though

  • Is his contract cancelled because he is too good for the team and needs the opportunity to step up?

  • Mates with a brentford fan, thought he was toilet. I think league one is his level and we made him look good. Harsh but fair.
  • I was never impressed. Two years on in a higher division.......not a prayer
  • He didnt even last long at Plymouth when they were struggling for goals and got sent back. I did like him while he was with us tho

Did well In League 1 for us and with Scunthorpe. Played some good passing football with him in the team. Seems he's struggled since.

Thought he linked up better with BWP than Yann did, but Yann was by far the better player. Yann was stronger and better in the air, made a difference defensively as well as in attack.

Hope he finds a team that suits him. He's League 1 player, Yann was a Championship player.
  • Not in the Championship, but thought he did well for us at the beginning. Clever player, good pro. Wish him well.
  • Good player, top guy. Sure he will find a club.

Thanks thought he was pony when he signed and my opinion has never changed since
  • Frustrating player. Out L1 team was ideal for him because we were probably going to win matches anyway, so his cock-ups weren't too damaging and his moments of superb vision could come to the fore. When you don't create many chances over the course of a match I can imagine him being teeth-grindingly annoying. I did like him though, had some excellent moments
  • Brentford fans hated him. I told my mate he'd be good for them and apparently I was very, very wrong.
  • Worked well for us at the time that we had him. With his back to goal, he used to bring the ball down really well (a bit like Deon Burton used to as well at that level).

However he isn't Championship standard and as we saw in the league winning season, the team actually outgrew him as a unit.

  • Blimey, we'll be suggesting Benson next................
  • Benson, Hayes, Lisbie. Now there is a front line to er... a front line to... no, sorry forgot what I as going to say, I fell asleep.
  • Good player in league 1 if he has a goalscorer with him and a team that will pass the ball to his feet imo, but not what we need.

    You forgot Mooney!

    Mcleod ?

  • Ladies and gentlemen, introducing: FRANCIS JEFFERS! The solution to our problems, only 2 and a half million pounds!
  • Only my opinion, but he should be of no interest whatsoever unless we turn up in Skrill South.
  • 10/1 New York Red Bulls
  • Rejoined Scunthorpe.
