Yep done well , he was looking for early distribution but don't think he's delivery was as good as hamers but handling and shot stopping was more than decent enough.. He threw one from his area into the other keepers box in the 2nd half can't recall ever seeing that before
I'm sure I remember Stefan Andersen practising throwing the ball out long when warming up at the Valley - and that he could reach the goal at the other end. Don't remember him doing massive throws in games though.
Yesterday he looked the type of goalkeeper that Spurs shelled out money on when he was a youngster at Sunderland. Seem to remember him having a solid game for Barnsley when they beat us 1-0 last season and I think he felt unlucky to be dropped not long afterwards, possibly contributing to his exit from Oakwell.
Not sure why his career has not taken off, he clearly has ability and long may it continue. Hamer needs good competition and on the basis of the last two, he certainly will have to earn the shirt back.
The three saves at the start yesterday were all excellent.
He did well on Saturday, Ben Roberts clearly can only sign decent keepers if they're called Ben. Alnwick has even grown a beard to look more like Hamer now!

Roberts has got the same beard too, as did Gerken. Do you have to have a beard to be a keeper these days? You have to go a long way to beat this fella though:

From the Valley 21st anniversary meal, even Bob Bolder now sports the facial fuzz!
Based on the last two performances Ben Alnwick seems to be an upgrade on David Button and John Sullivan as a number 2/competition for Ben Hamer. It is interesting to note that although Button seems to have done well at Brentford and is currently keeping the highly rated Richard Lee out of the team Sullivan's career has gone down hill and he seems to have fallen out of favour at Pompey.
I remember Alnwick being signed by Spurs for big money as a youngster and having an 'unfortunate' (to put it mildly) off the field incident at Sunderland. I guess because he never broke through at Tottenham I have always thought of him as a promising youngster and he has only played 55 league games (excluding cup ) for his various clubs according to Wikipedia.
I was surprised to see that he is actually 27 on New Years Day.Therefore like Hamer he should be approaching his prime which will mean the other Ben will need to be on the top of his game to get the shirt back, but also I think Alnwick is going to need a run of games before we can properly assess him .My criticism of Hamer is one of consistency, now let's see if Alnwick can stake his claim.
Looked solid and made some decent saves in the first 4 mins! But his distribution wasn't great - proabably needs a few games to settle into his match fitness

He was always highly rated when he was younger and made the mistake of joining Spurs a la Bostock.
I'm going to stick my neck out here and say he's a better keeper than Hamer, hasn't put a foot wrong and we have a genuine fight for the number 1 spot on our hands.

Have to say though thought he looked pretty good yesterday, good competition for Hamer
