I don't know why so many people assume that if someone with a lot of money buys the club they will go on to spend a lot on the team.
If a new buyer is hoping to make money (which seems likely) then they will want to get us promoted without spending a fortune. I can't see why an American would buy Charlton and throw money at it that he/she would never get back.
We need to remember that almost no clubs in the UK make money, most of them lose money, and from what I've seen the only people that churn a club for profit do so because they find someone stupid enough to pay too much for it.

Except there is a property play here, which I why Cash got involved in the first place. One way or another, he intends to unlock value based around that. I am hearing that he is not out the running to stay on.
We are, of course, assuming that these stories are not being 'leaked' so as to incentivise the board to offer Yann a new contract - something that I would be more than happy about.
Kermorgant hoping matter is resolved if #cafc takeover is completed.
Hmmm.
Blackburn have just signed Rudy Gestede on loan (one loan player I would have loved to have seen at The Valley.
If they're after Kermo as well, then I expect Rhodes to go in the January transfer window. Probably Pulis's first purchase.
That would be an awful move for him, the way pulis is going to have to set his side up to have any chance of staying up would mean Rhodes wouldn't get a sniff of the ball, that's why he can't start for Scotland, the football doesn't suit a player that needs to be presented with chances for 90 mins

this, he or his agent trying to get things moving.
Two observations having just read thought this thread for the first time since commenting when the news broke late last night:
1. Am I the only CA FC supporter not now boasting, "Yeah, I knew all along it was Josh Harris?"
2. Presumably the staff were paid today (within the correct time limit). In which case not only a non-story but a private matter between employer and employees which had no business being discussed on here.
Fingers crosssed the buy-out goes through. These people sound serious and if it happens a bit of hard-headed Harvard Business School training in SE7 will be the best thing to happen to the club since the return to The Valley. The new stadium is going to be fab!
It is reassuring to know I am not the only person outside the loop. But according to the last few pages of this thread, I definitely seem to be in a minority among Charlton Lifers in having no prior knowledge of who was behind the takeover.
It seems odd that many of those who rushed to comment with indecent haste on a unsubstantiated rumour about staff not being paid , showed such exemplary discretion when they were allegedly told the name of our would-be billionaire owners...

Well, if you think I may be lying, about Josh Harris, Airman Brown told me on Tuesday.
So making possible future buyers aware that there may be a cash flow problem at the Club as 'no wages have been paid' that were due today can't be seen as putting the mockers on a possible deal - yet revealing the name of the proposed buyers could?

I just find it amazing that so many people appeared to be ITK as to the future backers of the Club but kept it quiet in case it 'ruined the deal', yet something more likely to put the buyers off is posted before the banks even opened today.
Why not post it on Tuesday that you knew it was Josh Harris. I mean nobody waited until next Monday to mention about the non story of the wages.
Didn't and don't know now it's Josh Harris. I'd heard the name as had many others but that's not the same thing. For the same reason, media outlets that had the name wouldn't use it. Perhaps the Mail has been able to verify it. Perhaps they've been played, like the SLP appear to have been last week.
It's not a non-issue with the wages - it was substantiated and it very probably relates to the takeover. No way will it be a clerical error.
I met josh harris the other day. He told me he was interested in buying a team south of the river themes who wear red. Couldnt tell anyone about it but now its all out its fine to tell

Blackburn interested in Yann Kermorgant but striker's desire is to sign new deal at #cafc.
Richard Cawley @RichCawleySLP now

But I just wonder if any possible new investor/buyer, be it Josh Harris, Germans, Russians or Turks considered the ACV a deal breaker or not?

Is nothing sacred ?
So I can confirm that us two knew :-)

However, if The Mail print it, then it's out there.
