So many posts on this thread remind me of them moments in corny adventure films when some guys (who up to now seemed quite sensible ) catch site of a huge heap of gold and as if hypnotised, oblivious to all dangers, decide to fill up all their pockets, they always come a cropper sooner or later be it by snakes, falling buildings or the weight of their pockets.

Haha, this! So much nonsense being spoken. The amount of talk around stadium moves is ridiculous. Simple facts are that a group is interested and a deal is being worked on - that's it, nothing more is fact. It is enjoyable reading though!
mid week, non glamourous northern side, train chaos.. the point about capacity is already made and the aim of any buyer would one assumes be premier league
We cannot stay as we are either way. Being of a generation that saw football at the Valley pre and post Selhurst I can fully understand the ties that bind the opinion of some of the old timers on here. On the other hand a fair proportion of our support now were not even born and to them the struggle to get back to the Valley is a footnote in history just like many others, albeit directly associated with the football club they happen to support.
I am with the "memories are memories but..." camp after a lot of consideration and reading of various forums. We of course up to this point have no idea what the next few days will bring for our club but if the conditions for a move are right for Charlton Athletic, then I who hold them higher in my list of priorities than most would deem healthy would support a move to the peninsula. And the ghosts of those I still hold dear who came with me all those years ago would tend to agree, move on I say.
Problem is soapy we have been shafted before & older fans have very good memories. My greatest fear would be a take over that is successfull & going to plan when they suddenly say due to the new ground takeing a bit longer to build we need to vacate the valley now ( for houseing development ) & groundshare for a season or two - the sh-t would really hit the fan then .
I have to be careful about having an opinion sometimes. But my own opinion is yes of course if its right for CAFC long term. I think we possibly missed our chance to do a fan owned consortium type thing like Swansea some time back, maybe one day we will get another chance, who knows? And of course there are other less painful ways to influence or even own a slice of the club.

So true but us older fans could then throw the sh-t back from where it came. But you have made avery good point some thing i also said afew months back.
Why worry now tho? I'm pretty sure we would have to be selling the valley out every game b4 that officially would be a viable and it's not gonna happen over night!! Looking at 10 years at a guess and the plans are over 7 year old anyway. No one really battered an eye lid then so why now?
Maybe because what with RBG and ACV there maybe something fishy going down Gumbo (pardon the pun).
And that thing may be out of our hands.
Not that I'm informed but considering our past we have to be careful. Fair enough, I am opposed to any move but if it's to happen it has to be best for the club and the fans not some rich kid and RBG.
A good effort by Slater & the SLP to try and draw out someone....anyone to takeover our tinpot little club. I fear the mention of Slater staying on for 3 months!! May have scared any potential suitors to death. Target 4000 beckons.

Out of interest when did we have a chance of a fan owned consortium?
As I understand it RM and his associates funded the move back to The Valley in the early 90s and have been bankrolling the club with millions of pounds a season ever since!

Stop second guessing and wait and see what will happen

I will therefore act out what I know using the medium of mime.
