One gets the impression that Swisdom knows something, should I start polishing my jackboots?

I'm guessing there remains the possibility that the Germans I spotted in the NW Quadrant at the Leeds match may have been doing a recce for an invasion after all!

  • I have been looking at ITV forum this evening and saw this so as this person has asked someone I'm reposting-:

Just heard through a friend that one of the companies that are involved somehow in the never ending takeover are Hutchison Whampoa a Hong Kong based company in the fortune 500. They recently brought a majority stake in a company called Quintain Estaes who owns the lease on the O2 & surrounding areas. Apparently their looking to invest a lot into Greenwich Peninsular area.

Sorry dont know how to post the link thingy's properly

I posted last week (20th) that Quintain sold their stake in the Peninsular to their joint venture partner - Knight Dragon Limited - back at the start of November.

Seems to out the mockers on that one straight away!
  • Does anyone still believe there is actually a real takeover going on??

So if we do move I'm guessing we'll have to go through this fella first?
  • A well known Popular American actor starred in a film in a 2000 American adventure drama film. The title of the film contained two words, the first word is the second word of the company name. As fate would have it the same actor starred in a film set in the City that I have touched on above. This City is where the company are based.

That's it - I'm gone - this thread has lost the plot - we have umpteen people claiming scores of interesting buyers, all based on what is considered a planted story in a local paper. Cryptic clues....my mate said ..... they're from China.....don't know who they are but they exist etc etc etc.

Think he's already said they were based in Missisippi
  • Well from the "clues" on ITTV it's definitely Comcast he's referring to. Comcast are based in Philadelphia... so there's the Tom Hanks link.

"Comcast Corporation is the largest mass media and communications company in the world by revenue."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comcast

They own NBC by the looks of it who recently spent $250m on the US EPL rights and are showing every game this season - maybe owning their own Premier League team would be part of that plan. (and can you imagine the profile we'd get globally if that did end up being us...)

They already own some sporting ventures. Interesting. I hope Reams is right.... this would be massive.

"The company also has a majority ownership in Comcast-Spectacor, whose major holdings include the Philadelphia Flyers NHL hockey team, the Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball team and two large multipurpose arenas in Philadelphia."

    Sounds promising!

Tom Hanks is one of my most favourite American actors.
  • Philadelphia
  • Indeed! They appear to specialise in running decent facilities and building winning teams. If it is them and they grab the baton then we still have pay attention...just that the ride into the Premier League might have just accelerated?!

Finding it hard to type this as have EVERYTHING crossed that this is true !

  • Very interesting development ...if it happens. Fingers crossed

If those "clues" are true, ComCast is where I ended up too. That would be some new owner!
  • Name should never have come out.

  • Hmm, I have a mate who works for Comcast in philly, and I'm actually being put forward for a position there. Maybe I can wangle a free season ticket :)
  • The thing is it's a bit far fetched to be a load of crap so plausible in my eyes
  • But he said they were Germans yesterday, he does get things right but a lot of his "knowledge" is quickly forgotten.

Always rumours, some right some wrong ...why should it matter
  • WSS said:

Just think we've had so many false dawns, dropping the name of a potential bidder is tempting fate.

But no, I don't think a forum post will result in a bid happening or not happening - just doesn't seem right if its confidential info.

The secret six would never do it.

  • What did he say
  • The chief executive of Comcast is meeting him in the Lib before the game tomorrow to straighten this out!

    ;-)
  • He says he won't betray the trust of those who have told him but practically gives the name. Seems a bit stupid but there you go!
  • I can't see it being Comcast, but if it was that would be unbelievable. They're worth $45 Billion and the exposure would be ridiculous!
