  • we can only sit back and hope that its a good deal, Liege are not suffering so that is promising.
  • Another famous Belgian

    image
  • Not forgetting Eddy Wally...
  • Correct. Born in Ghent.
Sunday, 3.50pm. Wiggo and Eddy Merckx with a crate of Duvel and a big bowl of frites, singing Jaques Brel. Par-teeeee!
  • Just going through the Liege squad list,
They have a player Anil Koc - weren't we linked with Koc Holdings!?! - it's all linked this takeover stuff, it's like LOST!

Anil Koc? You're pulling my pisser. A sub came on for us in the U-21s at Sparrows Lane last week with the elegant name: Dammy Shitta.

oh why do I keep coming back to this thread

As Jim Morrison once said, 'Noone gets out of here alive' ;-)

He did indeed. The great Jim also sang "Keep your eyes on the road and your hand upon the whee-ee-el".

    This is the end
My only friend, the end (of the takeover thread!)
Jim: "The future's uncertain and the end is always near. Let it roll, baby, roll,; let it roll, baby, roll; let it rooo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooll - All night long."

  • Sounds a done deal so hoping that he believes in open dialogue with the fans.

  • Spent hours watching stuff about Anil Koc ( perhaps I didn't spell it right)
  • Contracts to be signed and deals to be done if true, amazing how the Brighton win made me feel happier in general. At Bolton the talk was of administration and chips and beer at Rochdale, this would be a relief just to know we got an even shot at surviving in the division until next season.

I've just got back from the hospital after having a son AND charlton have been taken over by a Belgian half billionaire.

    Today is a gooooood day

Congratulations Mr Bligh and congratulations Charlton, let's hope we can get a few loan / permanent players in and push upwards, hopefully the contract situations can be sorted as well.
  • If true and stability is provided then great news, also if we maintain our league status, the present guardians of the club will leave in credit. Also with the resurgence of Belgium football,a few good young slowness wouldn't go a miss.

Looks like wynn is repeating the story, it's not a new source.
  • I think we can safely say this chap would run it as a business and not a toy

Not entirely comfortable about a few things but will reserve judgement until the deal is done.

Beggars can't be choosers I suppose
  • Has this been confirmed by anyone in the know yet. @WIWALB @swisdom any news?

News to me. Either it's been the most covert operation ever or extremely quick process!

After Powells comments the other day I did wonder if something was is the offing though
  • 'The Addicks will be Duchatelet's third involvement in the beautiful game. As well as being the owner of Standard Liège, he is the chairman of Belgian second division side Sint-Truidense, who were relegated from the first division last season.'

  • "Whether Duchatelet's arrival will affect that situation remains to be seen, but the Belgian millionaire backed Standard boss Luzon with an expenditure of £2.5m in the summer transfer window ahead of the 2013/14 season"

    Hey big spender.
  • Promising. Better get them Oxford cup tickets quick.
  • Congratulations, I hope this all turns out to be true, and you can start to move up the league.
  • Richard Murray said the other day in millennium lounge that something was near completion and I would mean we wouldn't be moving away from the valley.
  • My Charlton barber also told me that that there would be a deal done in the New Year.
  • I think it must be all done, no leaks prior and boom done
