  • Any move to the Peninsula will be as a tenant and thus undermine our long-term viability.
  • Been pulling my hair out all weekend throwing a 2 goal lead away and missing a pen in the last 20 mins of my joes mate

I have been coaching them this season and its stuck with me all week

    Only a game mate .

    I say sack the coach.
  • My honest thoughts are that unfortunately in the not so distant future we will not be playing at the valley in floyd rd

For that reason I pick and choose what I spend my time doing and now its mainly the knowledge and I go to non league football watching my mates boy at waltham abbey and enfield town
Then the wrench and decision will not be as changing to my football rountine

I won't go to a new home ground I would not want too I would go away games if I fancied but I soon would stop that also

I would still be very much a fan but it would receive zero of my money due to it selling its soul

How others choose to support would have no impact on my life and I would never judge nor expect to be judged on my choice or anyone elses

Be like being a fan on a banning order

if it means you stop spouting your crap on here as well then I say make the move

its more to do with the battle the hardship and the times supporting cafc through the 80s and early 90s , like isaid I wouldn't force my view on my choice on anyone we all follow football for differing reasons

Exactly mate leaving the valley would be hard to take after all the toil to get back there, i for 1 would find it hard after some great memories growing up going to watch matches with my family and mates etc.
Tradition is dying out and its a real shame.
Which is the reason why I will not be going. Not interested, good luck to those of you who have already seem to have packed your bags?
Still not heard a convincing, or even half baked financial business reason for going, and as for being leased the ground by RBG god help Charlton.
This has a long way to go yet, so until we see the details, like who are these individuals, a question not entirely transparent with the current owners,
let alone another bunch of 'money men'.
Of course community, history, have no price on the balance sheet these day's, if it did these individual's would probably screw it up anyway?
God forbid any sort of business plan, but I will wait see what happen's.....or not!

Sorry Ken that is such a shit post, this thread started as a takeover rumour and everyone has turned it into we are leaving the valley, you have then added about the people who have packed their bags already, for christ sake, the report in the SLP is incorrect because they aint British what else are they incorrect about.

Which is exactly why you should support the new "return to the Valley Campaign"!

Most of you are jumping the gun a bit here. Why don't we see what happens first?

I agree, but also appreciate its easier said than done.

If you are watching a detective film and trying to work out who done it, does another voice in your head say "stop that right now, just wait and see what happens" ?

I have no idea why, but I have the voice of Father Ted in my head saying that
I think its a bit different between a rumoured takeover than a detective but I do know what your trying to say.

If a takeover does happen and the club does decide to move away from the Valley it needs to be for a very good reason. I am in two minds on this, the fact we worked so hard to get back to the Valley and then move away 20+ years later seems to take one of our proudest moments in history away. Although we may have to move with the times and build a bigger Stadium but I am sure most of us want a packed Stadium than it being half empty!
  • I have been planning tomoz session over and over it was against the team top at their ground so I reckon I have a stay of execution

Doing my nutt in as we had won 7 out of the last 7 in the league

If the whodunit is any good, you will swiftly conclude " I'm not Sherlock , I haven't got a clue", dip into the popcorn and settle back to await the denouement !!!

Do you know for sure that they're not British, Steve ?

If we are getting any less than a weekly gate of 38000 at the "Be more Dog / O2 Stadium," (home of the Charlton Isotopes) we should step up the Return To The Valley Campaign!

The question mark gives the 'key' to the question mate.
As I clearly stated, this was in response to leaving the Valley IF that is on the agenda.
Just a personal choice, not asking anyone else to respond or join me.
My last sentence did state?....'God forbid any sort of business plan, but I will wait see what happen's.....or not! '
That relates to the takeover, and the move IF it goes ahead.
Of course it is speculation, we are on a football forum.......a rumour.........
Personally I will wait and see the details of the takeover..... if we get to see them.

I was just looking at the Greenwich Phantom blog on my iPad and noticed the last post was a link to an animation of AEG's plans for a new hotel on the peninsula and felt certain I saw Charlton's new baseball style stadium towards the end of the clip! However, when I reviewed it on my pc before posting here I came to the conclusion it is just the old gasometer structure.

Have to agree. But I suppose it's harmless enough and certainly preferable to that embarassing ''Boardroom Watch" thread, from which not a single combatant emerged with their integrity intact...

Pleased to see the club potentially taken over. Something had to give with the current owners. I wait to see if it actually happens and what their plans are. And to see if they communicate with the fans and we get to know who the owners really are.

Lots of people putting 2 and 2 together and all those people together making it 96. Maybe there is something in a move from the Valley. I am going to take a moment to enjoy the fact that we are being taken over, and we hold on for just a brief moment with the hope that they are decent and upfront.

You never know, we may get to hold on to some of the better players in our current squad and be able to loan in a couple who will help ensure we keep our Championship status this year and maybe push on into the upper half of the table.

  • I think that although it is not directly (yet) linked to the potential takeover the subject of The Valley shouldn't be far away from any Charlton supporter.

We are not any team that may move from our ground, we are Charlton Athletic and are special because of ours and The Valley's history.

Change colours, nickname, badge or manager for all I care but our true identity lies within our historical ground.

  • Cant be that accurate a report, they state we moved to Shithurst in 1988......its a sham :-)

David Beckham and Le Bron James?
  • What odds would I get on...

    American owners
    Curbs return
    Move to another area

And could I do all three?

I know naff all about betting.
