Glad to have scratched an itch by bringing this back up for debate. Sorry to anyone who is too delicate to hear criticism of any CAFC players. At the end of the day it is all about opinions and mine is that I don't feel Hamer has been necessarily instrumental in the team keeping a string of clean sheets but HAS been totally at fault for a number of goals this season, particularly from long range, hence I agree with the previous comment that other teams adopt a shoot on sight policy, knowing its a weakness. Also, commanding his 6 yd box should be a given so I firmly put the 3rd goal down to him. Come off youR line and narrow the angle......its basic goalkeeping! I actually think he deals with crosses fairly well in the main and his distribution has in the past been awesome but that has sadly deserted him lately. I don't think we can blame the attack for Saturdays result. We scored two and Kenny was the busiest player on the field. I'm afraid that Hamer must shoulder the blame for this one
Sxxx happens keepers make mistakes ... Petr Czech, Brad Friedel and Joe Hart .. keepers that we would surely accept are a million miles ahead of Hamer, recent examples of the most exposed position on the football field.
We could go back to other keepers Peter Bonetti (a personal hero), Peter Shilton, Ray Clemence, All Scottish keepers.
if we were to castigate Hamer it should have been prior to the Forest game and the run without a blank sheet but now one game in 4 and one clear error - seriously? Anyway, I thought in Powell we trust?
I can't believe people still use the 'he's the best we have' excuse. People used that all the time about Parky and look what the alternative turned out to be....
I agree with the post Hamer has got so much stick for 3rd goal and sitting in the upper north I originally thought it was his fault but after seeing it a couple of times since clearly Jackson made the error
I have a theory about keepers.Crowds seem to love, as they do with lost cause chasing forwards, a keeper who dives after the ball he has no chance of saving, hes tried .I've noticed Hamer sometimes doesn't dive if he knows he is beaten all ends up. Add these new balls that are not far off trying to catch those old 99p plastic efforts from Woolworths! I think we are being harsh on the lad!
Keepers have the toughest job on the pitch sometimes... We have goal shy strikers and a defence that was missing two good players in solly and wood, and Wilson is a right midfielder doing a decent job in defence, not an RB by trade. BUT Despite all that, despite clean sheets aplenty, it's Hamer who is blamed for losses. Of course he makes mistakes, all players do... But there are worse problems than a decent enough keeper. A keeper who is a clear and definite improvement would cost a lot in wages. Kenny earns far more I am sure.

Apparently his fault for defeats, but not contribution to wins or clean sheets
Just been reading and laughing at the 'smoking' thread and it suddenly occurred to me! It's only got worse since Hamer came on the scene so I blame him for the smoking in the toilets!
He had no chance with the goal, generally handled and punched well and went for his customary wander and flap once in the second half, I actually thought they took it easy on us and whilst he made a couple of decent stops, it was nothing a Championship keeper shouldnt have stopped. Not sure I would describe any of our players performances as fantastic on Saturday.
According to the stat bank, he has an average score 6.3 overall, so not a liability.
This is Hamer we are talking about?! How many stupid and soft goals has he let in?! How often does he bawl out the rest of the defence for his mistakes?!
