Bored with 'blame Hamer'

1st goal - Wilson lost the man (and at least one other)
2nd goal - Harriot
3rd - He stayed put but did Jacko give him a call? Jacko was then very weak in the challenge
4th - Maybe but it was a soft and stupid free kick to give away

In my opinion, is the best we have and has won us more points than he has cost us.

I am bored with Hamer costing us points:

    Boro home
    Forest home
Leeds home (arguable granted but at fault for 3rd imo)

He may be the best we have, but that is not saying much. I have said before, he is not the biggest problem we have (scoring goals is currently) but he is one of the weaker players and really needs some competition.

Also has he won us that many points this season?

Barnsley and Blackburn away he played very well but our in terms of our other points, not sure he has been that instrumental.

Would much rather we went and spent any money on Kane or Obika on loan but if there were some funds available, a new GK may be on Powell's radar.
  • The goal keeper is the easy person to blame. There are 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 forwards. If one plays badly you can hide more. Wilson had a terrible game on Saturday, gave away the first and was in limbo for the 2nd which is why Harroit was covering so deep. Wilson didn't put any good crosses in but it gets forgotten. The keeper gets thae abuse, just like Elliot used too

so CAFCDan, Hamer only won us 6 points, including having a blinder in a 6 nil victory??? Rubbish. Not saying he is Gordon Banks but he has had moe good games than bad and has won us a hell of a lot more points than 6.

Barnsley in August when we drew 2-2, he played well.

I was only referring to this season when comparing points won to lost.
  • Apologies, I thought you meant last season
  • Sorry but he was at fault for the third, that was his to claim. Not at fault for the rest at all and has generally been alright so far this season.
  • Where is the thread slagging off Callum Harriott for giving away the penalty and not being in Ronaldo like form this season?

Is QPR going to be his turn?

    Yep, I think I rate him :)

  • I'm bored with Hamer threads.... can we start another one?
  • 3rd one, Jackson at fault. Let Mc get goal side of him far too easily......

More than that, he actually pushed him one step to the right which teed him up perfectly for the volley.
  • If we could score goals Hamer's goalkeeping wouldn't come under such close scrutiny. No matter how you look at it it's our lack of goals that's killing us

I wouldn't bother with the garden, looks like rain.
  • Nice string of clean sheets prior to Leeds game.
  • He's alright for gawd's sake.

Does make me laugh when i hear he has premier league class potential as if he is the only who makes saves in the whole league.

3rd was Hamer all day long. It is for a goalie to command area, esp 6 yard box not a defender. This is Hamers main issue he is not commanding and flaps at crosses. The other 3 were not his fault but the 3rd really killed us after just equalising.

Hamer is average for this league there are worse keepers but certainly a lot better keepers - Kenny, Schmeichel, Green, Kuszczak, Heaton. And to be fair we had 3rd choice CB playing and Wilson is not a RB
  • Has anyone actually noticed Dervite's contribution to the third goal? His overall (dreadful) performance seems to have been overlooked. Morrison also for the first goal.

Agree with Dervite, first was Wilson not being in position imo not morrison I thought Morro had decent game...

A subjective opinion on Hamer's ranking with other keepers in the League, not necessarily where he really lies in the ranking?

  • Didn't we just go 7 or 8 hours without conceding ?!
  • Ilike Hamer and do rate him as a goalkeeper but that doesn't mean he can't make a mistake all be at fault for a goal. Just like every other player he is not beyond criticism.

He was at fault for the third goal, no doubt about it but I wouldn't drop him as he's the best we have and is one of the best keepers outside the Premier League.
  • One of the two big differences between the sides was the goalkeepers. Besides the cock ups he has made this season how many times have you thought , wow that was a good save! Having said that I don't like the scapegoat attitude and will give him my backing at games.

Is there any ranking system for goalkeepers that isn't subjective?

  • Ben Hamer just went SEVEN HOURS without conceding a goal. One match later and some people have already forgotten ??

    Foolish comments.

  • doesn't get enough goals for me.

Hamer needs to study Begovic & become more of an all-rounder.
