Following today’s advice from the UK Government, there will be no access for fans at this week’s Coral Tour Championship.
At 5pm today the government advised the public to avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues. We have reacted to this advice with the decision to close the doors at Venue Cymru in Llandudno to all fans.
We realise this will be disappointing to fans but we must act according to the latest government advice.
World Snooker and Barry Hearn have a big decision to make.
Cancelling or Postponing(although if you postpone when do you have 17 free days to fit it in) The World Championships would be a massive thing, but how can it be played behind closed doors the Worls Championship is all about the Crucible Theatre atmosphere

I think they have to play it. As you say, it's not easy finding seventeen free days. It's great telly so I'd be quite happy watching it without the audience.
And its over the one sport thing that was left has gone.
CORAL TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP POSTPONED
Tuesday 17 Mar 2020 10:15AM
WST and ITV Sport have taken the decision to postpone this week’s Coral Tour Championship in Llandudno as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus.
The event was due to run from Tuesday to Sunday this week, televised by ITV4.
Following Monday’s announcement from the UK government that public are advised to avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues, we have liaised with ITV Sport and come to the decision to postpone the event, with new dates of July 21st to 26th this year at the same venue.
We appreciate this is very short notice and a disappointment for the fans and the television audience, however the assessment could only be made at short notice after yesterday’s announcement from the government which came at 5pm.
The box office at Venue Cymru in Llandudno will contact ticket holders . Those tickets will be transferred automatically to the rescheduled dates. Fans who are unable to attend in July can contact the box office after April 1st for a refund.
Announcements on future events including the World Championship will be made in due course, with all scenarios to be considered depending on further government advice.
Bored Snooker Players and Referees are coming up with there Snooker XI, something that Alfie Burden started, they are Twitter Videos so you will need Twitter will post them on here as and when I see them, here are the ones I have seen so far starting with Mr Burden
Thats all of them atm, although we have been promised one by Neil Robertson at some point as well and as Alfie Burden only started it 2 days ago I am fully expecting more to get involved over the coming days, its not like they have anything else to do lol
Just a thought, but once we start coming out of lockdown televised Snooker (with no audience) should logically be one of the first sports back, with strict rules to allow players to return to their well separated seats before the next player takes their turn. Other than their own cue, the players touch nothing, while the referee wears gloves anyway...
And unlike other sports, little chance of injuries placing a burden on the hospitals either.
