  • there is some pace in that pitch. can see us getting most of them out today.

We'd need to get at least 3 and probably 4 before lunch to do that 'cos the ball will be very soft after that.

Especially with Warner spanking it as he does. He'll never "die wondering" will he?

  • All TV production from Australia's C9.

Posh Boy Mark Nicholas seems to have engineered himself a career out there.

  • Top banter flying around on the commentary

thinking about it, (especially after what you said) a partnership could do it for them. keep it simple and they could ride it out. then again the way warner is playing he could do something stupid as he's being quite aggressive.

C5 pay his expenses. He presents their highlights. Boycott and Vaughn both work for BBC and C5.

    Into the tail-enders already. #Ashes
  • looks like a flat strip - no swing, seam or bounce so far
  • Already Team England's obsession with bowlers over 6' 6" is starting to look as if they don't know their ONIONS!

Will be interesting to see how early they turn to Swann. And whether there is anything in the pitch for him because, if there isn't, it could be a long couple of days.

Usually just before lunch, but maybe earlier if they dont take another wicket.
  • Could also see our seamers adopting the bowling at the 10th stump routine if the Aussies pick up the pace. Warner and Watson would soon get sucked in.
  • Sir Geoffery is now on for his first full session.
  • 14 runs in the last 9 overs. And Warne says we're boring!
  • Swann on. They will target him, especially Warner.

Good call. And just what Swann wants.

  • Never seen Watson so circumspect - 14 in 57 balls. Having said that, he does only have two speeds - dot ball and boundary.
  • Jimmy almost does a "Simon Jones" slide on the sand based outfield. Do they really not know not to do it there?

He really is a "bowling machine" cricketer at times. Deep mid on must have cut off half a dozen boundaries and he simply doesn't know how to work the ball round.

If they cannot see they've selected the wrong squad the composition of the outfield is hardly going to be top of the agenda is it?

Bresnan will be fit for the next test so that will be one less 6' 7'' bowler!

  • Watching this and getting a bit dispirited. As someone said earlier on this thread could be a long couple of days. At least that would mean I get some sleep as cannot be doing with seeing us get ground into the dirt. Here's hoping the promised rain arrives and is substantial.
  • Bloody hell it's only the first session! A quick couple of wickets and we'll be right into them.
  • 71-2. Broad gets Watson. What was that bb? :-)

    Watson out.

    C Swann B Broad 22.

Let's get Clarkey out before lunch!

Get in there Broad. Poor shot from Watson resulting from him building his own pressure. 22 from 71 balls with probably 60 of them dot balls.

    71-2 at lunch.
  • Yes I know, just trying to pre-empt something and Broad obliges.
  • You should pre-empt more often!
  • In comes the captain. Gotta get him cheaply.
