Was at Wealdstone v Dulwich yesterday. Not the greatest game but two fantastic shots from outside the box got Dulwich a deserved point against a very tired looking Wealdstone (who have to play again on Monday night...)
Both sides were lacking many of their better players, with Erhun Oztumer being badly missed by Dulwich through a long-standing ankle injury. His absence didn't help the game as a spectacle either but both sides will take positives....Wealdstone basically cementing top spot and Dulwich for a spirited 2nd half and a comeback from 0-2.
Talking of Oztumer, somebody in the football league has to give him another chance....and I wish it would be Charlton. A real creator, he's also scored 58 goals in two seasons, he works his nuts off and would fit into Jose Riga's passing style (and into his pocket 'cos he's only 5ft 3"..) We'd be mad to let this (presumably cheap) local talent go elsewhere. Since being released by Charlton as a 16 yr old, Oztumer has played a little bit of Turkish top division football but got homesick for South London. So he called up his old Aspire Academy coach Gavin Rose and joined him at Dulwich Hamlet.
With the Charlton game switched to Good Friday, I took in the Dulwich Hamlet - Leiston game on Saturday. Very enjoyable game, open and no little skill on show. Leiston were slightly fortunate to win 3-2 with a last minute breakaway. Some decent players on show. Oztumer was very much involved in Dulwich's attacking play but on this occasion his finishing was very poor. I liked the look of Hamlet's No.4 and No.9, sorry I don't know their names. The Hamlet fans were pretty entertaining and just found out the relevance of their Tuscany chant, excellent!
Folkestone scored their 100th goal of the season today in a 3-2 win that sets them up with a home play off v Guernsey, who they play (in Guernsey) in the final game on Friday night. Original game was moved only a month ago as Guernsey had 'discovered' they had double booked their stadium for a junior Rugby tourni!
Basically f*cked everyones flights / hotels up, so now they are streaming it back live to the Folkestone clubhouse on the night, bizarre for this level.
You'd think 100 goals would be enough for a promotion, but nope Champions Peacehaven are sitting on 127 goals and 107 points with a game left. Ridiculous for a side that came up from the Sussex League last year.
Jason Button @butskijnr 7m Maidstone need to win today and hope that either Dulwich Hamlet or Lowestoft draw or lose if they are to reach the playoffs @ksnfootball
