Do any of you remember when Spurs went to Burnley for the 2nd leg of the Carling Cup semi? (in 2009 I think it was?) Spurs were leading from the first leg and Burnley needed to win 3-0 to take it to extra-time or something like that and they did?
That was Ben Alnwick's one and only first team game for Spurs.

No, but you have reminded me of our old player Simon Walton

So it was his fault? How many other players were changed from the first leg as well?
Another promising signal from the board. Glad to see Hamer have serious competition until Pope is more ready - maybe now he will go out on loan to a L1/L2 side to get league experience.

It's only worth loaning him out if he actually gets some game time, given that he's likely to be considerably less experienced than any keeper he replaces I can't see any L1/L2 team giving him an automatic start. So he'll either sit on our bench, or some other team's.
He may as well stay and play for the reserves/U21.

I would disagree. The lad has just been released by Barnsley, I would hardly suggest he is going to give Hamer a run for his money.
An OK back-up, but as I say, competition .. I don't think Alnwick is.
As I said in another thread - many moons ago I saw him have an absolute blinder - not sure if it was on TV or against us. I thought he would go on to big things and have semi followed him for a while and wondered what went wrong.
If he can recapture that then he's a challenger to Hamer - trust me on that.

Maybe Conference again like last season with Cambridge. May wait until an injury happens and a conf/L2 team need to draft in a loan...

Stronger back up for Hamer, allows Pope to go out on loan and Phillips to play for the u21s.
Pope had a run of games on loan in the Blue Square Prem last season, and the year before lower down. Can see him going on loan in League 1 or 2, just as Randolph and Elliot did before they broke through.

Let's see. I reckon he may well get a start in a L2 side. We had Mambo and now Smith at Wimbledon, and they currently have Ross Worner in goal. I would fancy Pope ahead of him. That's just one possibility, there must be others.

I don't think we would/should sign anyone as a bench warmer. If he gets a start and does well, he ought to keep Hamer out. Button never really stepped up but Alnwick has the better pedigree. As we so often say, if anyone can get players to play up to their potential it's CP.
Happy with this, Hamer definitely needs pushing - hopefully this guy can provide competition, interesting that he was capped at so many youth levels but his career has been all over the place since. I guess he must have ability and I reckon SCP is the man to get the best our of players who've lost their way.
It was clear when Pope didn't play in the League Cup game against oxford that Powell didn't think he was ready for the first team yet, so another keeper is no surprise. Someone good enough to step in for Hamer, so I'm happy with this signing.

was he in goal for the 0-6?
Might improve Hamer to give him some competition.

Yeah we were unstoppable that day, should've scored at least 5 or 6.
Did he even have a shot to save?
That was Button NLA.
I think they all do, he's good on Football Manager by the way.
Heard it's a zero hours contract

well he aint no good that was the most inept display of keeping I have ever seen
