The (non) penalty and the sending off

Apologies if this was posted elsewhere, but I didn't see it on the post match thread:

Has anyone seen the penalty claim incident again? It wasn't on the BBC highlights and it's not even on the CAFC Player highlights. I'd like a second look so I can make up my own mind whether it was a good or bad decision - but on the post match thread, the Leicester supporters seem to be absolutely certain it should have been a penno.

Not that it matters now of course!

  • I have just watched that about 12 times in a row and I don't understand, he slides in for the ball and then gets up and starts complaining?
  • To me it looks like a nothing incident outside the area. But the light on that clip is pretty bright so it's hard to say for sure.
  • Well there is a hand on his back, but he goes to ground as if he was playing football in front of a grassy knoll.

Not a pen. Just a whining bunch of northerners
  • Lucky he didn't get booked for diving too. Stupid to cheat and act like that after a booking.

Jackson maybe touched his shoulder/back on edge of area but the slide was farcical. From his subsequent hissy fit when already on a yellow James is clearly very very stupid. If Pearson has anything about him he should fine him the week's wages for his suspension. Happy to play against 'tards like James every week.
  • Perhaps Leicester should learn when to point the finger at their own side instead of making a fuss about poor ref's! (we all get them)
  • Never a pen. Ridiculous reaction from the player.
  • looks like the smallest tangle of legs...but outside the area.

  • He got a slight nudge on his right shoulder. Possibly enough to knock him off balance, and technically could be deemed a foul. But the ball was out of his control, and he wasn't going to get to it before the clearance came in. If he was running toward an unguarded goal and that happened, then maybe he'd get the decision. Maybe.

I think that the combination of frustration over losing out in that moment, combined with the frustration of his colleague missing the 1 on 1 with Hamer boiled over.

Nigel Pearson's comments on TV after were ridiculous. "Some things happened that we'll have to wait and see what transpires..."

Sorry Nigel but... the game's over man. Game's over.

  • Well outside the area
  • After saturday i now have a real dislike for leicester. really horrible team
  • He dives down after contact of ankles/feet with JJ on the edge of the area, no pen in my opinion.

Agreed - maybe a brush of the ankle or foot, but not enough for the spectacular dive. Play on.

  • I've got a feeling that he asked the ref, if you thought I dived why don't you book me? :-)
  • Leicester shit place, shit club, shit fans, even the cattle market is full of shit much like their fans.
  • Never really had a problem with Leicester up until now but the bleating they've been doing since Saturday is getting on my tits. They lost, fair and square, to a team that played better on the day. Now shut up and get on with it!
  • they are crying like babies much in the same we would have done if the roles were reversed

    That would be quality refereeing.

  • From where i was sitting i was not sure but now i have seen that video i cant believe he tried to claim a pen for that
  • The sending off looked harsh and the ref is notoriously card happy so I have no problem with them complaining about that. Having said that – they won’t be able to appeal it because by the letter of the law it is a second booking – but I do believe refs should be trying not to send players off if they can help it, and a stern talking to would have done the job. The fair minded should accept that the ref did not cost them the game though!

As for the fouls on their keeper- they are ridiculous statements – no ref would have given fouls for either of our goals.

I think they are a good side with good players so the fact that we were significantly better than them should have garnered more begrudging praise than we have received – but hey ho – you can sort of understand how they might not like us – given how we have beaten them 3 times on the spin and it is almost certain we’ll pick up another three points at the Walkers later in the season.
  • You say Deadman's card happy. Yet I believe he was the ref at Hudds a couple of seasons ago, when Waggy was nearly sythed in two & the player wasn't even booked.

Although he did send off Russell later on.
  • If you're clipped or shoved you do not go legs first, that suggests someone has gone through him. As for the card he has a pop at the ref, gets told to put a lid on it, then keeps ranting. Only had to see his reaction on the way off to realise he'd lost the nut. Very surprised Pearson wasn't condemning him for being a stupid boy.
  • Not a penalty for me, and unless James used some REALLY bad language, and/or was booked for a dive, a harsh dismissal .. still, we take what we are given .. both our scorers are ex Leicester .. that serves 'em right for not keeping a hold of good talent
  • Leicester are cheesed off and are looking for excuses, nothing new there for any football team or any fan including ourselves on occasion. Deadman was pretty poor, but worse I thought was our (East Stand) lino (Don't Get Done Get Dom) who gave every decision our way.
  • Let's be honest they were better with ten men anyway, so the ref did them a favour :)
  • laughable claim and he touches the ref and crowds him out, what a dick

Yeah, I must say I noticed this too, the lino gave absolutely everything he could our way practically.

  • Very very questionable shout for a penalty at best, and to be honest the ref had already shown a willingness to get the cards out, if you're already booked you have to be extremely silly indeed if you're going to take a chance like that!
