Not about the defeat yesterday

What pissed me off is the fact that once again Powell seemed to learn nothing from last season...
To play Pritchard wide there is no excuse for that ...and to pick Hughes who as not played in pre-season over the likes of Stephens, Hollands or even Cousins its hard to back him ...
And once again the big big problem is to late to make changes, anyone could see yesterday the midfield was not working so why not change it at half time even when we went 2-1 down still stuck to the negative line up. 12 mins to go is to late.
People have very short memories how many points did we lose before xmas last year due to the same issues wrong team selection, negative tactics and subs made far to late, yesterday we lost at least a point I hope come May we don't look back and rule that point.

Powell got to learn and quick at least he can't pick is love child for 3 games which is a plus, but I bet next week he picks Wilson instead of what 99% of supporters would do and pick Danny Green

Every prick and his mum was saying dont go 4-5-1 before yesterdays game , we gotta go 4-4-2 blah blah blah
    (They're all very quiet now)

Already know that fuckwits will be knife sharpening for SCP's head as soon as a bad run appears the same fucktards who moaned we didn't play like Brazil1970 under Curbs ... We have some right doughnuts for fans
  • At a recent meeting for VIP's, Chrissy Powell said 'I'm not going to lie to you, this is going to be a very tough season'. Alex and Damian were in full agreement. What I find so incredible is that we can get thoughtless threads such as this one. Does the author really think that the coaches and manager have not worked these problems out for themselves? The constraints are numerous, complicated but very well thought out and take into account individual players personalities, preferences, motivations as well as their skills. Go to a few meetings colin1961, put your questions ( and I would suggest questions rather than deliver lectures ) to CP and you will discover that the training ground realities are somewhat different to computer games.

Please, please please, this season can we get behind the lads and staff? They are going to need us so much this year. I'm almost dreading going to games because I don't want to hear the abuse starting up again. I feel I might get a bit ferocious this season, I'm so weary of our nasties that I may start taking my handbag to games. Shut up and support the team!
  • Its 1 game judge us after 10 games everybody needs to calm down .
  • That was a bit about the defeat yesterday, wasn't it?
  • To be fair if we had won yesterday I'm sure there would be threads in here suggesting we would be winning the champions league within 3 years.

    Agreed
  • Instead of these doom and gloom threads being started how about just making your point on the post game thread? The pessimism after one game is quite astounding.

I am afraid Colin 1961 is Colin Sams, who posts on the Charlton Mailing List. Unfortunately his posts have driven many fellow posters there away.

It will be interesting to see how his thoughts go down on here, a much bigger forum.

Not to worry, we will still win the champions league (but might take 4 years). As soon as the african prince puts the £55m in my account as promised, I'll be buying the club and mount a serious push into the premier league..................

Blimey. I left the mailing list 5 or 6 years ago because of that idiot. I wasn't even sure it was still going. Be warned people , he's a wind up merchant.

    TW Records?
  • Isn't it funny that when we went on that 8 game unbeaten run at the end of the season Pritchard played wide right and no-one had any complaints. He scored twice, got some assists and played out of his skin. But now he has one poor game and they're all coming out of the woodwork moaning about how he's useless on the right and Powell is a fool for playing him there. That's the problem with having such a popular forum I suppose; when we're winning it's all fine and dandy but when we lose one match some people see it as a chance to show their management credentials over the internet. 'I knew this would happen..'

Maybe losing Jacko was a reason/excuse.

Then again you clearly want the return of Dowie/Parkinson plus Wise and any other idiot out there.

Trust me if we lose Powell there are plenty out there who will say 'we'll have him'.

Seth, please don't put Parky in the same sentence as Wise and Dowie.

  • mist, yes my mistake. Dowie and Wise are a LOT worse than Parky who is a decent man and a decent manager...however not during his time with us (as a manager I mean, not as a man.)
    Contrite.
  • Fair play Seth. Parky is one former manager I really hope manages in the Prem one day
  • The post is over the top, but one point I do agree with is Pritchard not being a wide man, I feel sorry for the guy because he is being played out of position and the most frustrating thing is we have green and Wilson who as rm are much much better.

no way! prich got 11 assists last year in the league. Only four players in the whole league got more than him, four players got the same.

Green got three, doesn't work half as hard for the team as prich does and evidently doesn't get half as many assists?!

Wilson managed one assist and spent the second half of the season literally hiding from the ball as it wasn't going so well for him so he took the cowards way out.

Just because Pritch started as a CM it seems people will use him as an easy scapegoat when things aren't going so well as he's "out of position." He made that position his own last season and without his assists we wouldn't have finished anywhere near 9th

How many of those assists came from him playing on the wing and how many more games did he play more than Green and Wilson. The fact is , is he isn't a winger and never will be. It's nothing about him being a scapegoat. I like him ' but just not out wide.

All this assist bollocks. People trying to make out he is iniesta.

Wish Wikipedia showed how many times players gavé away the ball and put their team under pressure.

Pritch is alright but when he plays bad he is really, really bad. He looked like an amateur. He is over rated by some to the point people call you a fool if you dare disagree with them. Pathetic.
  • Anyone who was actually there yesterday would have seen Pritch constantly go missing on the wing leaving us exposed. Now, whether that was down to him naturally drifting infield against orders, or whether he was being force to move inside to make up for the lack of pace of Gower/Hughes I don't know... but there is no doubt that yesterday, Pritchard's position was the weakest link and where Bournemouth repeatedly exposed us.

That isn't a criticism of Pritch necessarily as like I say there are a couple of different reasons why the hole may have kept appearing there, but blindly repeating ad nauseum that he got the most assists last season is irrelevant to yesterday's performance.
  • But he did get the most assists last season
  • There's a difference between a right midfielder and a right winger.

Pritchard can be a good player at right mid but he's certainly no winger.

All depends on what sort of balance CP is looking to get from his midfield.
