  • Just an FYI as I suspect this will be coming up a lot - as a rule on CL we encourage people to sell tickets for face value. There is no need to seek profit from other Addicks, we're not touts.
  • Gonna a be lots of fans looking for tickets.

Pity that regular fans are unable to get tickets and shame on anyone taking their wife, girlfriend or Mother In Law!!
  • Count me in for any spares
  • Does anyone know if they will give us a bigger allocation later on?
  • 2 for me please if any become available

I really can't understand why people are complaining about this. Could some of those regular / die-hard fans explain why they don't subscribe to Valley Gold. I would be interested to hear why as people seem to have the money for away tickets but not the VG membership. It would save all these complaints and get the club more money. And you might even get the money back if you win.
  • I am in Valley Gold DRF.

When tickets are limited, don't bring your wife, girlfriend, Mother In Law, mate from work who supports Man Utd but fancies a change, geezer who works in the off licence, probation officer, local MP or anyone else who would be denying a ticket to a proper fan. That's why I'm complaining!

    It just aint fair!

    Why isn't it?
All fans have the option to be Valley Gold members and they are helping the club if they do. Had all the tickets sold out before Valley Gold people could get one then fair enough.
You pay's your money you takes your choice.

In any case, I would be surprised if people took randoms. I bought two tickets, one for me, one for the other half. We are both Valley Gold season ticket holders.
  • Charlton's system isn't perfect, but it's pretty good
  • Agree cant see how it can be done another way. It rewards fans that commit with VG or VIP and those who travel away often.
  • I think the structure in place is good. I can understand peoples frustration at not getting a ticket. Are there many taking non charlton supporting mates just for the piss up??

DRF, if you and your wife are Valley Gold season ticket holders then obviously you are both "proper fans". My post isn't sexist and I should have put wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, Mother In Law/ Father In Law....I thought it was obvious that I meant we shouldn't be bringing anybody who isn't a regular Charlton fan when tickets are limited.

I have just heard about some more Charlton who have booked hotels, train etc and haven't got a match ticket.

That was a silly thing to do then.

  • At the end of the day quite a few people are only interested because its 1st game by the seaside how many would go if barnsley or burnley 1st game.

...or some of us who live within walking distance of the ground.

Making such a contribution I would rather give the money to a more needy cause, for example an animal charity I know and trust. I otherwise use my cash to buy a season ticket and go to away games.

I have my 2 tickets though, so a moot point in my case. Not bothered about staying over night either, Bournemouth's nightlife ain't all that.

  • I'm gutted by what happened really wanted a ticket missed out by 20 minutes was gana stay the night in bournemouth. It forces me to consider valley good membership to save me from future disappointments although the general sale system from from the word go....is just better and more simple right?

Ps anyone selling up for 1 ticket away end of course. I'm quite far down the Que I can see.

Disagree completely. That wouldn't be a system at all, just chaos and would be unfair to those that go away the most. Remember when they did something like this for Swindon.

Ok at least some leniency towards the most loyal fans. After that 1st come 1st serve.
