Waggy is at an age where he needs to be playing regular football. He cannot spend his entire career bench warming in se7.
I asked him about this at the POTY dinner he was very much of the opinion that he would happily warm the bench if he could stay. I'm with Len, I just can't see the sense of it. Love to see him return one day.
Lovely bloke great work ethic and attitude etc but not good enough for the level we're at or wanna be and he deserves to be involved all the time not just as a bit part
Think comparing him to Parkinson is a bit insulting really - Waggy was Charlton through and through and always put in 100% effort and never came out with any bullshit unlike PP.

Parky had his faults but I don't think he ever "came out with bullshit". He was always very honest on whether our performances were any good. I personally think the same and his talent, like parky's will shine through and we may see both of them back as opposition at the valley eventually.

I just always remember at the end of the 'Bailey Miss' season, his quote that (not verbatim) "Whenever there's been a big game, my players have never let me down".
To me and all others who were at the humiliation at the toolbox that season, the comment was crass to say the least!

I see no need for a replacement. But as I said previously, Waggy is a smashing bloke & decent player & I hope he's a great success at Bristol C & beyond.
There are people on here who are far more insightful when it comes to analysing games and players but I could see at an early stage last season that his contract was running out and that he was given his chance to nail an extension...
It was clearly a borderline decision and I am glad that the player has found his feet somewhere else. In the 1990s I always remember that the five or so players who Curbs despatched never really came back to haunt us meaning that right decisions were made and that the squad overall was greater than the sum of the parts.
I can't recall who it was, but I seem to remember someone suggesting CP was in the position to retain Green OR Waggy, but for whatever nefarious reason, not both, and in the end chose Green. I am not (yet) a massive fan of Green, but he has started the season with a point to prove, and I hope his undoubted potential is realised. For me, Waggy's main qualities were always industry, effort and enthusiasm rather than tricks and set piece quality - the same three strengths that Pritchard also has, though his assists record suggests he has more to offer. I would assume that Green was chosen as something a bit different tactically, and if this is the case, I can at least understand the logic, though I am still out on the conclusion.

Well I just waffled for no reason then... still think Green has a point to prove to CP and (some) fans though.
Spoke to a fellow Charlton supporter today who went to Bristol City away to Gills, although Wags was on bench, he reckoned City played some great stuff and have a very good chance on bouncing back so we may see Wags back at the Valley soon enough.
I'm wondering if he'll be back again. Just get the feeling he's off getting a taster elsewhere and will be back in a couple of years after getting some quality playing time under his belt.

At the game against Bradford. Scott played very well. Brilliant goal and was also awarded man of the match. Great start to his new career. Well done Scott!
Was at Ashton Gate this eve, Waggy played very well and seems to be getting popular with the locals, City played very well, Jay Emmanuel Thomas found his level. Get on city to go back up this year. Palace not at the races.

Early signs from Brizzle are that they are really taking to him, friends say he's really impressed so far.
