Completely agree. Was a great 'shop window'. I was surprised too - assume they'll be wearing it in Spain. Also noticed Stephens wearing a really old training top with Macron across the back...
I must admit to being a tad disappointed with the general reaction to Joe Pigotts hat trick. We set a plan to have Yann playing behind Joe to feed his runs, the result 4 chances. 3 goals. What we have here is a 19 year old big strong boy with a good first touch, who is a natural goal scorer ( more than 30 goals last season ). I can understand if CP is careful about not bringing youngsters in too early, but have to ask ' who do we have who looks better ' ? If there were Brighton ( or other ) Scouts there they are sure to have noted his performance. Come on Charlton, if he's good enough etc.

Hat tricks are uncommon - look at past friendlies. This and last season's achievements would suggest that the lad is a finisher and has made big improvements to his game. I wouldn't rule him out at all for next season!

Well said Granpa. Finishing is the hardest part of the strikers job, just ask Carl Leaburn. All I heard after Saturday was what great service he was given by Kermy, not how well he took the chances. Yes the service was good but just look at the video to see how clinically he took the chances, none of them were easy. Yes he is raw, yes he has a lot to learn, but if a trialist had taken those chances we would be spunking our pants. We have a great prospect in him and other players in the academy, let us not put undue pressure on them, but let us rejoice in the fact we have got some very promising players coming through.

Quite right, Granpa. I do think that people are tempering their enthusiasm somewhat, so as not to load the boy up with too much expectation. But you're right that if he had been a trialist there would be some trouser mess around.
I do think Kermy's supply was excellent, but they way they worked together was a breath of fresh air. All three goals superbly taken. I would love to see some more of that partnership.
Joe Pigott is a talent no question. If he can do well for the rest of pre season, he deserves his chance. Why do we need to buy a £1m+ striker when we may already have one just waiting to be let loose. He may be rough around the edges but that's no bad thing, call in an unpredictability if you like, which in a striker is a great asset. Feel Joe has earnt himself another crack in pre-season and fingers crossed he takes it. He is for me, the most exciting prospect our academy has produced!!
just watching the video and pigotts 3 finishes were all very impressive, very good. Also quite impressed by some of the football played by welling, especially the move at around 7 minutes 35

Very well said. I'm really looking forward to seeing Pigott in a competitive first-team match. If not at Bournemouth, then Oxford in the League Cup?
Think piggott will make an appearance at the tail end of the season, as long as we're not in a relegation scrap. May well go out on loan, but this all depends on getting other strikers through the door.
I thought piggot handled himself pretty well for me he could be our answer to a forward considering we are light in that department he looks strong got a good touch and finished superb there is a few more games before start of season and id imagine powelly will want to see how he does but maybe this is the route we need to go down since finances seem like they are gonna be in short supply .
well. we've had to use youngsters before, and I'll wager he's better that Carl Leaburn at the same age.........and 19 is not particularly young !1
Don't forget Carl Leaburn was playing in the top tier of English football as opposed to a pre season friendly against a Conference side.
Not trying to do Joe down at all as goals have to be scored and he did it well by all accounts but comparing Leaburn unfavourably, at this stage anyway, is both unfair and premature in my humble opinion.
Let's see how Pigott does in the rest of the pre-season games before deciding whether he should be involved in the first team. With only one senior striker so far he should go to Spain and there should be more opportunities for him. A great start, couldn't have done much more, but it's still only the first pre-season game.
Would love to see him break through, players like Solly always looked like they had first team potential. Pigott seemed to like most that you couldn't be so sure about, hopefully the club can start to bring a few more through than just the obvious talents. Other clubs seem to manage it.
Smith had an excellent pre season in Spain last year and he hasn't quite broke into the first team yet.
I don't think too much pressure or expectation should be placed on our young lads just because we don't have much if anything in the transfer kitty.
He took his chances well but this is the first time alot of us have seen him. Next week of he gets those type of chances and comes away with none people might have a different opinion.
Was Diego Poyet on the bench too? I wouldn't mind getting a glimpse of him; heard lots of good things there.
Ill echo what the others have said about Pigott though; he took those chances well - and they weren't exactly tap ins. He took their keeper on well too.
Very pleased for young Pigott, a first half hat-trick is great, even in a friendly.
Let's be clear though, banging in three against Welling in a pre-season friendly is very different to playing away from home against strong sides like Forest, Wigan, QPR etc - there is a huge gap between these levels.
As others have said, just look at how long Smith is taking to come through for proof of how long it can take.

More bizarrely, Cort wearing 23 on his shirt, and no. 19 shorts.
It was a dozen fellas having a laugh with Jamie Turner that's all same as last year !
Tuna was never going to be good enough
But piggot azeez and silva all will be imo and should be pushing now for a starting berth not a bench place

Nice to see a hidden video on WingsTV shared by someone. View it while you can as it will be pulled and moved soon.

Give them time.
