Just as an update, I mentioned my nephew had done several days when painting was needed. A really nice thank you on the club website the other day, naming all the volunteers who had taken part and this week he received a thank you letter and two tickets for Oxford and a further 2 for Boro.
He hadn't expected anything other than being able to help out and add voluntary work to his CV. A nice touch from the club and he's really delighted too.
That can't be right. I'd heard the club was in disarray and out of touch.
I posted on "Help get the Valley ready " thread last week after seat cleaning on the Wednesday when there were only 13 of us present.
Henry is indeed correct, that a free ticket is offered as previous years and the 3 of us ( all VIPs) opted for Oxford as obviously our s tkts do not cover Cup games. We also received an email from Mick Everett thanking us for our participation.
We are going again on Tuesday but would not expect any further tickets to be on offer....that's not why we volunteered.
The paperwork we signed, showed that an enhanced incentive would be offered if 3 sessions were attended and another if 5 ie the system has been thought through since last year.
If you haven't already done so, PLEASE try to make one of the remaining days before next Saturday's match. The Club really needs our help in these difficult financial times and when you meet the lovely Jan Martin and of course, ME, you will realise how badly their department has been hit by cuts.
I believe it was hoped that next Wednesday would be the last that helpers are required but it is possible, due to a reduction in volunteer numbers this year, that Thursday and even Friday may be available.
Remember that you are doing this for OUR Club and fellow fans who sit in those seats, together with OUR Club staff who are working so hard to maintain standards, not for the owners .
If we are looking for a scapegoat in our so called perilous financial state, can we also blame them for the purchase of the north upper and quadrant seats please. They look ropier every season and i think we were had.
Coming to do the seat cleaning tomorrow. Can you park in the west stand car park?
Def a yes, Trev.
Come & say hello tomorrow.
Be my third year doing the seat cleaning, didnt fancy getting the train in this heat so parking is very appreciated! Looking forward to mucking in again!
