If You Could Erase One Goal...

edited July 2013 in General Charlton
If you could erase a single goal from footballing history, which would it be? (question is being asked on footy365, i wondered what the Charlton response would be).

EDIT - Not including the Fulham goal! See if you can think of another.....

    Great question.

In the history of football (not just Charlton) it's gotta be brehme goal against England in 90 or Kuntz goal in 96. Would give anything to see England in a major final!
  • The goal that Fulham scored against us that was not a throw in, think we may have pushed on and stayed up had that not gone in.
  • Good call VG. For Charlton, Fulham's equaliser from the throw in that should have been ours in Pardew's first home game possibly?

The Fulham goal is exactly what I thought when I read the thread title
  • Agreed about Fulham goal

Was also going to say this one! Two extra points and I think the momentum to pick up the couple more we needed.

Euro 96 is a great shout, too.
  • Fulham would be mine.
  • Concur, fulham goal
  • Fulham for me too

  • That bolton goal fa cup q/f 2000.
  • Fulham goal was the first thing that came into my head when I read the heading.

    Clearly i'm not alone....
  • Swindon goal in div 1 play off semi 2nd leg
  • Great question.
  • Blackburn's 4th goal in '58.

Would have drawn 3 - 3 and bounced straight back into the top flight.

History of club takes a completely different route.
  • With that Fulham goal it's not just the importance the goal had but the injustice of it. The fact it was clearly our throw in, not a Fulham free kick, then the fact a defensive header out by Talal clattered off the back of Hermann's head (or the other way around) and fell into the path of a Fulham striker. It really was a crushing goal

This post just caused me some repressed pain. Really brought it back. I remember saying the lino just relegated us there.
  • Jermain Easter in the League Cup when Wycombe knocked us out in 2006, we would've been the semi finals had we won that game.
I sure someone on here knows the last time we were in the semi finals of a domestic cup competition, i dont, but i know it was a while ago.

  • BREHME Italia 90 vs germany

No draw no pens no fear England wouldnt lose on shoot outs and be multi world cup and european cup winners

This is the best question evrer asked on charlton life
  • The last minute winner for Everton in the year we went down
  • Palace's winner vs P'boro last game of last season. Would of meant Millwall going down instead.
  • Our 6th goal against Barnsley, still gutted that I've never seen us score 6.
  • Henry free-kick against us in 03. We would have been the only team that beat em (deservedly)

Derby equaliser for 2-2 in the champ when we got relegated. Grant basey gift.
  • Germany's goal in Italie 90, reckon we had a real shot at winning another world cup.

    Can't fault that logic.
  • Defoe's goal
  • Got to be the Fulham goal , where would we be now with Pardew if we'd stayed up that season?
  • Defoe's goal

Which one? He's scored about 10 against us!
