Saturday 27th July is being kept free for our home friendly with Celtic
Is this a joke, or is there any truth in this? I think I would die of excitement if this turned out to be true.
There were advanced plans for a PSF v Celtic one or maybe two years ago but fell thru' due to police costs (they charge the full whack for friendlies).
I think Chris Powell will be taking the Daggers friendly very seriously , he'll want to erase the memories of a couple of seasons ,when we were shocking , for anyone who went then , it might be worth going along to this one , providing we put out a strong team.
I'm confused (it doesn't take much)....Is the tour abroad before or after AFC? The quote suggests before but Henry suggests after. I'm hoping for after.

We are definitely due a home pre season friendly. Dutch or Belgian opposition would do me. Someone mid table like OHL in the Belgian top tier. Leuven is my favourite Belgian town so would be well up for the return leg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oud-Heverlee_Leuven
Have I remembered this wrong? Wasn't Chris Powell sent off in a home friendly against European opposition after, understandably, reacting when one of their players spat at him?

Are the policing costs so high that we just can't invite one of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea or West Ham to our place for a friendly? They would all bring thousands of fans and could take the east stand if necessary.
The problem there is that the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are too busy touring the world making money to bother playing a friendly against us. What would be in it for them?

I can't imagine Wenger being too impressed by the state of our pitch either :-)
Didn't we beat Arsenal in a pre season friendly back in the mid 90s?

Who knows who it will be, if anyone?
2011 was cancelled by police and 2012 cancelled by olympics.
Remember the Ipswich friendly in 2010, won 2-1, two Deon Burton pens, about 5,000 turned up....
we won the double that season.
