Its not just those that were moaning about Powell, but pretty much every single player in the side barring Chris Solly has been scapegoated at some point.

Jackson's too slow, Hamer's too cocky, Pritchard has no talent, Fuller's too lazy etc.

We've even had some point the finger at Yann when he was just coming back from injury!

Needless to say, many of those starting such ridiculous threads don't seem to post much these days.

There was a point in the season when JJ looked too slow, and Yann took a few games to find his feet following injury. It was perfectly reasonable for people to point these things out as long as respect remained for the players.
  • Why do we have to have a thread like this after every win!!??!!??

Can't we just enjoy the result??

Fairs fair. There's a thread the opposite of this every time we lose.

Neither are "right" in my view, but that's how it is.

Now then Brendan, what was your favourite goal today?
    :-)

It has to be the skippers goal for me Offy!! Hurt my leg on the seat on front of me jumping round like an idiot when it hit the back of the net!! :o)
  • Is anyone not a little surprised by our latest run of results tho? As well as being happy, and a little bit sad we're just short of doing something to cause an upset
  • Fullers for me, just purely for the reason that I had kind of resigned myself to never seeing us score six.
  • Nothing wrong challenging decisions of the management, it does not mean you want anyone sacked. Pleased that we have this run of results which takes us to a position few of us envisaged aftet 20 minutes at home to Bolton.
  • Such appalling grammar CharltonBoy. Sure you're not Millwall? ;-)

We are all really gutted that Charlton are safe, wish we had gone down instead.

Sadly some probably think just that :-(

    Bull crap

lol Working, he only ever seems to write on here when his pissed.
  • Mick Foley, he's gone quiet!
  • im still here
  • There might have been a very small minority who were calling for Powell to be sacked, but I can remember a lot more support for his defenestration about this time two years go after he'd been in the job for a couple of not very successful months...

This exactly. I know we've nicked a few points ourselves but if only the six points we could / should have had more were actually on the board. Pretty much shows that with some sensible additions next season could be very exiting.

  • The local has run out of pies, that is those humble ones!
  • I WONDER IF ANY OF THE 672 LEFT EARLY YESTERDAY?

It does annoy me slightly that its taken this long to find a winning formula. It shows we are capable of competing in this league its just taken this long. I know we've had our injuries with Hughes, Wiggins but I wonder where we'd be if we had started the season with Harriott instead of Kerkar and other players playing out of position on the left wing.

Yeah I'm not criticising anyone. It was always going to be a season for trial and error.
  • The doubters calling for scps head? Even my last post about play offs? Not looking unreachable is it!? Some fans wind me up. I hate pessimists!

Where are they? Probably in the same place as the ones who think we are going to reach the play-offs after yesterdays result. In fact it's probably the same people.
    Funny old game ;-)

I really think it is a confidence thing. With us winning twice at home in quick succession it has given the players a lot of belief to express themselves. It has also helped us to have some continuity in selection. It will be interesting to see what Powell does in the remaining games. Will he carry on playing the same team or will he give some of the squad players a chance?
  • Even Paul May has come round to agreeing CP is the man to take us forward!!!!

Absolutely. Harriott is a fast developing player. SCP knew when he was ready. We are not as a fanbase that patient with kids coming through (e.g Jonjo) so he needed to pick his time. I think people underestimate what a class act Wiggins is, and how much we therefore missed him. And as for Hughes, the extent of his influence has amazed me. We also had Kermorgant missing for three months.

The point is that that is our first team, with everyone fit. Very few clubs are in that situation. The stronger clubs are the ones with strong SQUADS (as well as competent settled management -see Blackburn/Wolves) which requires investment.

Only if they had a plane to catch or some other emergency but not that I noticed. To a person we stood, acclaimed our heroes and milked every minute of an historic victory :0)

I read that, fair play to him for admitting he was wrong.

It wasn't his point of view people had à problem with.

he called cp à cluless clown and anyone who backed him the same. He even insults Charlton calling them tin pot and cardiff à proper club.
His attitude is terrible and he wants to back track because he had no where else to go with his stupid comments so it makes him look like the bigger man instead of à stupid idiot who was totally clueless of what was going on.
