Who's for the drop now?

  • I'd feel really bad for blackburn, but after their horrendous treatment of Steve Kean i'm totally indifferent

I don't get this viewpoint at all. It's the owners who have destroyed that club - and Kean was their nodding dog throughout all the shit that they pulled. That's why the fans despise him - not because of the results, but because he was complicit in completely gutting the club.

I guess its more difficult to see if you're not actually a fan, but imagine if we sacked Chris Powell and replaced him with a far worse manager, who subsequently went on to ruin the club whilst overseeing a regime of ridiculous player movements that decimated the playing staff. In fact, imagine if we replaced Powell with Alan Pardew...
  • I have it on good authority that when the Venky's took over Blackburn in the Prem they weren't aware that they could be relegated.... seriously.

They thought it was like the Indian cricket league where teams don't get relegated.

Makes a mockery of the 'good and proper' owners rule!
  • Venky's really have a problem here - another Portsmouth in the making.Where do they go from here if they do go down? Have they trousered the Prem League cash?
Apparently, they signed Leon Best on a contract worth 25k a week?
  • I read somewhere that Danny Murphy was given a 2 year deal on £35k a week, at 35!
  • Madness. Total lunacy.
  • Big Sam has the makings of a book here - has he ever come out and explained his sacking?

    100% true
  • I fancied Huddersfield, Barnsley and Bristol City .. now however .. Barnsley are making a right fight of it, Wolves look vulnerable again and Blackburn has more holes than in John Lennon's famous song ... Huddersfield, Blackburn & Bristol City .. one long time struggler, one diving from prem to oblivion and one returning from whence they struggled last season
  • I suspect that Leeds and Boro are only going to narrowly avoid the drop, the way they are playing at the moment.

Other than Bristol, the other 2 places are very hard to predict. Blackburn's next 2 games are at home to Derby and Huddersfield. You can imagien the atmosphere in the home crowd...

  • To think we were all bigging up Boro as title contenders after they spanked us at the Valley!
  • If we are joined next year by Reading, QPR, Bournemouth and Brentford and if Palace, Watford and Pboro stay in the division, there'll be a lot less commuting involved.
  • Huddersfield deserve to drop just for that goal difference
  • Bristol City, Blackburn and Wolves

I reckon Notts F will take the play-off place

    So...
    Charlton
    QPR
    Reading
    Palace
    Millwall
    Watford
    Pboro
    Brighton
    Brentford
    Bournemouth

Just need Southampton to drop too.!
Shame Pompey arent going to be around for a couple of years.

Yep, they are on a point less than everyone else really.Might be the difference.
  • if you not involved its very exciting.

Lol, yes, aint it great !!
  • Actually, thinking about it, doesnt the Watford model fail in the Prem? - ie they are not allowed to bring so many loan players in from abroad? Would they have to bring in a whole load of players?

I presume they will buy many of their current loan players

Depends who you consider 'Blackburn'. The Venkys are idiots who deserve everything they get. The fans aren't to blame though, they have about as much control over their owners and their actions as we do.
  • Bristol City are gone, too far behind with not enough games left.
Blackburn, now they are in the bottom 3 they won`t be able to get out of it.
Hudds, Barnsley or Wolves for the other spot, think P,boro have enough to get out of it.
  • I think Blackburn and wolves will power out of it sadly. Probably see Barnsley and Huddersfield catching the bullets.
  • Think Bburn are in too much of a spiral to get themselves out of it - and hope that Pboro stay up - they are certainly kicking and screaming and wont give up without a huge fight
  • I want Blackburn to go for simply hiring Shebby Singh. The guy is a total clown and thinks because he played in Malaysia he knows something about football.

He was/is an awful pundit and shouldn't be near a football club - he has certainly proved it!

We still need to get to 56 points,I could see someone falling on 55 this year, but having done different permitations on predictor I can't guess who it will be.

The season reminds me of 1982/83,when we played Bolton and beat them 4-1 to stay up.If I remember rightly there were about 10 teams who were only separated by 5 points including the mighty Chelsea who in the end finished below us.One difference was in those days I think a couple of teams were allowed to play fixtures after the official last Saturday which looking back feels really unfair.

The other mass relegation battle I remember was 77/78. Blackpool finished the season earlier than a lot of their rivals with 37 points and had to sit and watch as all the remaining results went against them. In the end seven teams, including Charlton, ended up on 38 and Blackpool dropped. Charlton stayed up by drawing 0-0 at Orient.

Indeed. Bristol City have the same number of points and Peterborough have one less yet their positions in the table are very different.

You do need to factor in that Portsmouth had a ten point deduction and virtually no players last season.

However, you you give Portsmouth back the ten points (which they earned) the total number of points earned by all the clubs up to now is almost exactly the same. Two wins and a draw draw in the thee 'games in hand' and there will be an exact same number.

Interestingly Cardiff, top, are the only team in the top 16 that have the same number of points at last season - They do have a game in hand. The bottom eight have 43 points more than last season, and three of them have a game in hand.

Leeds, Palarse and Millwallies, be great wouldn't it?

At least we wouldn't have any derbies to lose next season

    Agree

  • Bristol C
    Blackburn
    Huddersfield

I can't see Blackburn staying up. Many of their players were signed with the intention of going up, can't imagine they've got the stomach for a relegation battle. Rhodes might be able to save them but he's been scoring all season and they're still down there.

I think Peterborough have got enough goals in them to keep them up. Barnsley have become hard to beat. Huddersfield have a terrible goal difference and can't seem to string decent results together as well as others down there.
