For a London team I sometimes feel like the only Charlton fan that lives in London. Im not talking about ppl who live in Charlton/Woolwich, but others parts of Londinium.

I live in Stratford (about 5 miles from The Valley), which is obviously W.Ham territory with the odd Orient supporter floating about. My journey home from the valley is a tube train from North Greenwich, and I rarely see more then 3 or 4 Charlton fans on it with me at most. Its possible I just never happen to get the tube train that carries a significant proportion of the addicks, but I doubt it. This compared to the seemingly thousands who travel in from Kent every game.

Anybody else here actually live in London? Or even East Laaaaandan?

Not sure i get this. Until the jubilee line opened why would anyone from east london even think of going to charlton unless they were an exile.

Sure. It was always only 5 miles away, but how would you get there without a hike or a swim?

By the way, have lived only in se6 se13 and se9 all my life. You are not alone in London , but east london is a khazi!

When I moved to London I lived in Woolwich, which is how I got into Charlton as they were the local team. Moved to the khazi later....
  • Woolwich doesn't count apparently, for some reason

Errr.... yeah... because Im curious to see if there are many ppl who travel away from the Charlton/Woolwich area to other parts of London after games...
  • Lived in Crystal palace (great start to life as a Charlton fan), Catford and now in Penge.
  • After every game the London bound platform is mobbed. Some get off at Greenwich, Lewisham, etc, but the majority go into London.

Dunno where they go then. Don't really care to be honest.

Surrey. I can count the charlton fans round here on one hand, with fingers to spare

Ha, I think there are a few of us Croydon. I'm in Wallington and have seen a fellow Addick with the sword tattoo on his leg walking down the high street :)

I have lived in 8 of London's finest boroughs and now, I too live in the land of the Nigel. It is not one of the 8.
  • Ayrshire in Scotand, originally from Sidcup.
  • I live in old street, hoxton. Can't get much more London than that son!
  • Born in woolwich (British mothers and babies hospital), lived in charlton for most my life, now live in north London (Archway).
  • Born in Erith, lived in Plumstead,Eltham,Erith,Merthyr Tydfil and now back in Eltham.
  • Live in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Born & bread in St Albans.
  • In the same way Charlton picked up a few supporters when we played at Selhurst (notably Richard Murray) did we pick up any supporters when we played at Upton Park?

I certainly started going regularly when we were there, though this is partially a coincidence.

Sounds like we need to arrange some kind of regular east london Addicks pre-game beer session...

  • Clue is in the name.
  • And there's another charlton season ticket holder in my street as well

Plenty of good drinking holes in the east end Trev! But I am in the final weeks of training for the London marathon so not really drinking much at the moment. How about beers towards the end of the season to celebrate when (and I do mean when and not if) we stay up?

Yeah Id be up for that, be great to get a group of east laaandan based fans together for games, just name a pub and hopefully we can get more people to come over time.

It always amazes me how fans from elsewhere in the country (Sheffield ferinstance) have a big down on that there London. They see it as dirty, unfriendly, crime ridden, overcrowded and generall appalling...as compared to Middlesborough or wherever.
I simply don't see it that way. have lived in Eltham, Sydenham, Herne Hill, Camberwell, Tottenham, Dartford, Surrey Docks, Lewisham and now Lee I obviously think London is brilliant...especially because it is so diverse. However I don't really go to other places and think they are chite. Most places (even Sheffield) are usually pretty interesting and worth seeing at least once.
Maybe all the non-Londoners who put our city down are jealous or something, reckoning we get first dibs at everything even though the opposite is usually true.
90% of our population are not Londoners, so anyway London is not really a representation of the whole country.
I am glad I don't live in Methil though.

Our paths must have crossed, I've lived in Dartford, Eltham, Lewisham and Lee.

Usually pop in the Plume so get off at Maze Hill (though I sometimes walk there after the game)....before the journey home to Hastings....when I go that is.
  • I live off the Kings Road, Chelsea. Crazy to travel all that way East
