Attitudes change from game to game....after Leicester 90% on here were very positive, then 2 home defeats and it all changes, the win up at Huddersfield changes the mood again...I'm sure it's the same on most football forums. Personally think we have a pretty tough run in but will be OK, as previously mentioned, another 2 wins will do us....and I'm sure we can manage that.
I think Bristol City will survive, their home form is superb recently (16 points from 18) and their last 4 home games are against Sheff Weds, Bolton, Birmingham and Huddersfield. Their aways are ok too. Wolves and Derby (both out of form), Burnley (hit and miss) and Hull (only one you'd say was a guaranteed loss) and us (hopeless at home)
It is not just this single thread. There is a constant 'woe is us' air that fails to recognise that we are mid-table. The title is 'other teams are winning'. So what is the inference to be drawn from that, other than (at home) we are not and that relegation is to be feared? Otherwise what is the purpose of the thread? It surely isn't 'teams at the bottom are winning but who gives a fuck cos we are safe' is it? President finished his comment with 'We need another couple of wins to make sure.' Sure of what precisely President? Let me complete the sentence... to make sure we don't get relegated'?
I am not 'exploding' KHA - far from it. I am VERY happy at our league position and yes I would welcome a home win or three (especially this coming Saturday) but with almost no expenditure the team have and will achieve a position of which many others will be envious.
Blimey, Mr Belligerent ! - no wonder you're in Legal !
All i was doing was staing the bleedin - in as much as we need 2 more wins to be safe - regardless of how you want to portray it, if we dont get 2 more wins, then we ARE in the shit, and the major problem is that most people watch the woeful performances at home and think how many more 'lucky' wins can we keep getting away from home.(because, surely, if we play like that away from home, we must get a tonking). However, the prime topic of the thread was to say that the teams at the bottom keep winning thus putting pressure on the teams on the slide (blimey, m'lud,it even almost says that on the tin!).
I think when you start to look a run ins in this league - you have no chance - it is too unpredicatable. Momentum is the key at this point in the season though - both upwards and downwards.

One of my points exactly. Which is why it is possible that Pboro,Titties and Barnsley could well escape, and Wolves,Udd and Millwall might not
Think it goes to show just how well we've done this season overall; that it can be so tight down the bottom with no relegation certainties and we're in a relatively safe position.

Many, many years ago I can recall leaving The Valley after a win and thinking "we are safe now" and if we had got 3 points instead of 2 from the last 7 games we would have been. Just saying ;-)
The point about 11 teams below us is a good one- some of those are going to have bad runs. I still think 50 could be ok, but I reckon we'll get a minimum 2 wins easy anyway. The gap between the bottom sides might be smaller this year - that's all.
Would be very surprised if 50 is enough to stay up. There's no really bad sides or a team that are whipping boys. Bottom 3 all on 39 points with 9 games left, one of those 3 will surely go down but at least 1 of them will get to 50 points in my opinion.
Last season 2nd bottom (Coventry) went down with 40 points and 50 points was enough for 18th place. It's a lot tougher this year.

The teams below us all have to play each other - some, like Millwall and Huddersfield for example, have to play many of the sides immediately above and below them.
For God's sake let's keep a sense of proportion here. We are 12th. There are a 11 (ELEVEN) teams below us with just 9 games left. Anyone who thinks a) we will lose all 9 games or b) that ALL those 11 teams or others will somehow. miraculously, engage on a winning run leaving us third from bottom and relegated should be consigned to a lunatic asylum instantly. WE ARE SAFE from relegation!!! This wrist-slitting is because of our shite home performances. On home form we would be relegated. Fortunately our away form is superb and, surprisingly (sarcasm here) , it is is a combination of the two which determines league position! Home supporters have been deprived of seeing a home win and CP doing his tunnel jump but I hope the fans (and whoever 'owns' the club - as it is surely not the fans) view this campaign as a success and build on next season. Tomorrow I will buy two season tickets for 2013-14.
5 points above relegation, 8 points below bottom, I sense some tense matches coming up. Away to Barnsley (who are really on the up), home to Wolves and Bristol. Lose all 3 and we will be in serious trouble. Win all 3 and we'll be safe.

They did well to beat Brighton last night. But Barnsley have got a tough run in:
H Watford
A Sheff Weds
H Leicester
A Palace
H Charlton
H Derby
A Forest
H Hull
A Huddersfield
Their final match away at Huddersfield could be crucial - and a local derby.
That's a pretty nasty run in - if they get their 12 or 13 points to be safe, then they've bloomin' well earned it!
Teams can't afford to lose to the teams around them or immediately above them.

They can't all get maximum points.
I'll put £500 on us staying up, anyone want to bet £100 against that?
