One of my favourite all time players. My brother was mascot for the 0-0 draw with Wimbledon in 1986. I saw him booting a ball against a light switch, trying to turn it on, was this part of his regular pre match warm up, and did he ever manage it?
James Milsop Melrose. The man who gave me my name. My hero. My number one, absolute hero. I am too excited to think of a question!
Eldavide - Cool story, wonder if he did!? I was there that day. My best mate, a Dons fan, that was his first ever game, long before I met him. Didn't Leaburn hit his own crossbar that day?
The Everton hattrick is an obvious one. Being left out at Spurs springs to mind - how did he get on with Lennie? Does he still follow the Charlton scores? How would he have fared in modern day football? Is he aware of the high esteem in which he is still held at the club (by me at least)?
Great memories from that video. Was that Rob Lee, the number 7, who headed the ball on for Jim to score his 3rd goal?
I'd ask him about the 1987 playoffs against Leeds. What was it like to play at Elland Road in that incredibly hostile atmosphere? Did the players realise how important the game at St. Andrews was for the very survival of the club? How great were the celebrations after that stunning late comeback to win the game?
The 9 second goal at West Ham . just after he hit the underside of the bar . One of my West Ham fans said it was in . Jimmy scored some great goals . Did he score in the first play off game against Leeds at Selhurst

He certainly did. It was a very late goal as well, 87th minute if I remember correctly. If he hadn't got that goal we would have lost at Elland Road & been relegated.

Below: Jim Melrose manages to get his hero's (JiMMy 85's) autograph away at Tottenham.
When Jim was at Leicester, did he think that Lineker would go on to great things and did he enjoy playing alongside him?
We signed him from Man City, think he had previously been at Leicester and Wolves? My daughter came with me to the Everton match, pretty sure that was our first home win that season. He was here long, but what a great servant to the club. Fantastic late goal in the play-offs against Leeds (1st game). Stunned their supporters to silence. Great player!

I still wear those shorts. I am wearing them right now.
Yes please. As much as I admired and worshipped Jim Melrose (& still do) why did He not turn up at the celebration of the Leeds play-off victory ? Bob Bolder, Garth Crooks, Lennie Lawrence & Colin Walsh all said they would & they did. Every other player (except JM) sent their apologies & excuses. Jim said He would be there. Any reason Mr Melrose ?

what made that 9 secs goal more remarkable is the fact that WHU kicked off.
I thought that the reason he left us was because he could not sell his house in Macclesfield. If Charlton had bought the house from him we may have stayed longer in the old 1st division.

Q - "Who was the best goalie you ever played against"
Q - "Who was the best centre back you ever played against"
Q - Were you tempted to play on to score that 100th league goal? or were you satisfied stopping at 99"
